Prince Harry will be deployed with his regiment to Iraq, General Sir Richard Dannatt, the head of the British Army announced. This follows speculation last week about whether or not Prince Harry would be sent. The Ministry of Defence had said his deployment was under "constant consideration".

Of course he should.
He joined the army, that was his decision.
If another person joined the army, their family, and their friends would not be shocked of them going to a war zone.
Why should a boy of so called "royal" decent be treated differently?

There should not have even been a meeting to discuss this, he joined, he has to preform the army's duty.

Its really a case of hiding his identity - if it is at all possible...

Im not a member of the armed forces however i have spent almost 30 months working in iraq and I have recently returned due to the increase in bombings upon the british bases. Part of me agrees that Prince Harry should go to Iraq to boost morale for the troops that are already there. However I do agree that there will be an increase in threat not only to himself but for fellow troops around him and also the military bases. Why does our country have to broadcast everything that the Princes do? If our country just sent him out there and got his tour over and done with then I believe that the threat increase would not be as great as it is now. I would like to wish Prince Harry a safe tour along with the rest of the British troops and all the civilian personnel that are currently working in Iraq.

I see Harry as a hindrance more than a solution. More attention than is normal will be brought to bear on the British in Iraq. Harry is a symbol, and the rag heads will be hell bound and determined to get to him. Even if that means suicide bombings and British soldiers piled high.

This is too much of a price to pay, just to satisfy the whims of one of the Royals ! I'm sure that Harry is a fine young officer and doesn't want preferential treatment, however he must be realistic. He has an obligation to his mates, and that is to see them return home, safe and sound. The best way he can achieve this, is to not burden them with watching out for his butt !

i think he should serve his country as best he can.i think a real effort must be made to keep his whereabouts a secret so the prince and the others are not put at a higher risk just because he is there.he could alter his appearance in some way so he could serve without being recognized.i wish prince harry and all the troops british and american and any other of our allies the best.

Prince Harry is going into Iraq and has made perfectly clear that he wants no special treatment.

My question is this, if President Bush is adament about this war continuing and his daughters support his decision, why have they not enlisted?

I comend Harry for going, other Prince's have fought in previous wars why shouldn't he! Andrew was active in the Falklands war and I think a lot of people respected him for that.

if he is in the army why should he stay home when all his regiment are deployed it would be a mistake to give him any favours. If he serves his country then that's what he should do

The Question that i would ask is why the British are deploying out there anyway

Sure!! I pray for him and hope his being a public figure known the world over does not put him at risk. At least unlike the Bush Brothers and their children he'll have war stories to share.

normal people who are in the army are expected to go abroad to help in combat situations.
most people i know that are in the forces have joined for that very reason.

why should prince harry be tret any differently? he wanted to be in the army so he should do what every other person in the army does. go abroad to fight.

in the end he wants to go.

Prince Harry should first consider how he would endanger his troops lives before satisfying his own desires.
