full, it will get more years and use as the child grows. plus if you ever have to use as a guest room you can!
it is a bit more expensive but not significantly..go with a good feeling and fairly firm mattress.

For room size we did a twin. But we did the twin with a trundle so we could hang out with him in his room and we would all be comfortable and when we were done we could just slide the trundle back under the bed. On mattresses, we ask around to several different mattress stores and they all said pretty much the same thing. They're kids, they are going to make messes and possible ruin a mattress so until they got older, the cheaper the better. (Plus kids can pretty much sleep anywhere and be comfortable!) Believe it or not we only paid like $100.00 for my 3 year olds mattress and it's not that bad at all.

My son switched from crib to full sized bed at 2! He loves having all of the room and a place for his extra blankets and stuffed animals. He can also use the bed through high school! It is worth the investment now for something that your child can use for several years. With a twin, I bet down the road you will buy another bed for them when they are older/taller. A great place to get a mattress is Craigslist. Have fun!

Go for the twin bed, there are allot more accessories made for kinds in the twin size than in the full, especially for a 3 yr old. Another bonus of a twin is there is allot of floor space in the room for them to play with their toys.
I slept in a twin until I was 21 years old. there is plenty of room for you and a small child.
Good luck, Hope this helps.

We went stright from the crib to a queen bed for our son. ( a baby on the way necessitated that) We had two reasons for deciding that, the biggest one was he is set through highschool and beyond if he so chooses for a bed. If you have the room for it and will still have floor space for the 3 y.o. I would do the full for that reason. Our other reason was it seemed silly to buy a bed that we would have to replace in a few years for a larger bed, and we worried alot less about him falling out.

I'd go for the full bed if you have the room.
Our eldest son moved into the spare room before the baby was born, which had a full/double bed.
I thought it'd be better to change it for a single when we
re-did the room for him, so he'd have more space to play.
We did change it but now there isn't enough room for all of us to read together, so we end up in our room instead.
If I was doing it again, I'd stick with the full-sized bed.
Good Luck :-)

I chose a twin bed for my daughter just because I wanted her to have lots of floorspace in her room. I'm able to sit and lay with her to read at bedtime just fine in the twin bed.
For a kid's mattress you should get a firm one. Good luck.

If your three-year-old has enough room in his bedroom, I would go with the full bed. He's going to want one when he is older, and this way you'll only have to buy it once. They make lots of cute sheet/comforter sets that come in full size for children, too. And it will be great for sleepovers once he's older and in school.

I personally have a twin bed...with a chair next to his for his bedtime story...he likes it that way....also on the type of mattress...its kinda like their crib mattress..it needs to be as firm as you can get it for their development...
