Recently held a fundraiser where we hosted a cash bar, and had two servers butler hors d'ouevres to the attendees (this lasted no more than an hour). The gratuity is not at all addressed in the contract, so we are trying to determine whether or not we need to include a tip for the staff. Any tips for how to handle this would be greatly appreciated.

I just took part in a charity event, what they were telling people was even if they got tips, they were to be donated. Everything was by donation though.

Absolutely! The event may have been for charity, but those servers were there as paid employees and their services should be rewarded.

Now, had you asked volunteers from your interest group to serve at the event -- and made it clear up-front that their unpaid service was their gift to the charity -- then you would not be obligated to tip.

This request is previous ridiculous and the epitome of cheapness as nicely as rude. The nursing homestead enterprise is to blame for any bonuses presented for their workforce like the different corporation corporation (and that they are in it for the money). it is your mum's prerogative no remember if to purchase somebody somewhat present (field of candies sort factor) if she chooses to realize this - somebody might have been extremely worrying in direction of her. a number of the citizens might have dementia or be on an fairly tight funds and are not in a position to be compelled into this folly. There had extra perfect no longer be any negativity in direction of your mum, keep an in depth eye on her and the staff. There are constantly the courts to handle abusive behaviour could there be any retaliation.

If it was a cash bar, the patrons would handle the tips on the bar. You could tip the percentage on your food costs.

If the servers where being paid to be there then I think it would be okay to tip them. If they were doing the job out of the kindess of their hearts then tips aren't required.

I would say yes because the servers are being paid hourly. Had they been volunteers, I would have said no. They are still there to work and to serve. Gratutity would greatly be appreciated as servers are generally poorly paid.

Technically you don't have to but it would be greatly appreciated. But one major thing to look at is how there service was, if it was great then yeah give them a tip, if it was bad then no don't because that is showing them that they can do there job crappy and get rewarded for it.
