I get it when I fall asleep, and when I least expect it. Almost always at night, and doesn't matter which position I'm laying in, it will happen. It's always evil things, I don't visually see things, but I feel...most of the time, and hear at times. I've heard footsteps in my room, heard voices a couple times...But mostly It's feeling things, like hands grabbing my ankles, choking my throat, and prying open my mouth. It's hard to not be frightened because they aren't usual hallucinations, if that's what they even are...Which I don't believe. Everytime it happens, I feel that its some kind of demon, or demonic force, because thats just what goes through my head, and because of the things I experience point to that, i.e. a voice saying "Can I ask you something about your pathetic God?" and the prying open of my mouth, in a mocking fashion to take my soul from me. Any advice please, I don't feel this is a psycological issue, but I could be wrong.

What you described is a well-known condition. You should consider going to a sleep clinic for an overnight evaluation. It is *not* psychological. You are perfectly normal, mentally.

Decades ago, my wife suffered from the same disorder, so we made a point of learning about it. First of all, it's perfectly normal and keeps us in our beds while we're experiencing the vivid dreams usually associated with REM sleep. (People who sleep-walk are really not paralyzed enough.) Usually the paralysis passes before we become conscious, but some folks wake up and remain paralyzed. (My wife.) Others experience vivid day-dreams while still paralyzed, which sounds like what's happening to you. As people age, they naturally remember fewer of their dreams. Many people experience this phenomenon as a development "phase" that eventually passes as they grow older. I suggest you attempt to embrace the experience as part of being a human being. There is nothing supernatural about it, you're just having weird dreams. You are imaging a demonic theme because that's what's on your mind. If you were a different person, you would have a different experience. If it becomes a problem because you can't get enough restful sleep, or if you begin to dread going to bed because of it, you should seek professional help.

I also suffer from sleep paralysis. It's a sleep disorder- not demons, aliens or anything of the sort!

Wikipedia defines it as this: "Sleep paralysis occurs when the brain awakes from a REM state, but the bodily paralysis persists. This leaves the person fully aware, but unable to move.... low levels of melatonin may stop the depolarization current in the nerves, which prevents the stimulation of the muscles, to prevent the body from enacting the dreamt activity (e.g. preventing a sleeper from flailing his legs when dreaming about running)."

The beings trying to haunt u are dis-embodied souls who may be there because of the environment in which u live or u may have opened a door for them to be in your life...like thru the use of a ouija board.

On this matter see spiritual (not religious) help by anyone who u know or trust who can communicate with these beings. For the mean time thoroughly clean the house. Use incense & oils to keep your room or house in an imaculate vibe. Keep it clean at all times. Use psalms 91 repeatively until help comes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogia

It's nothing mystical, nothing magical. It's a well known phenomenon strongly linked to sleep paralysis.

Hypnagogia and sleep paralysis are well known, mundane conditions that are readily explainable. If this is causing problems for you, you might consider a sleep clinic. They will be able to help you find patterns in the occurances and find ways to avoid them in the future.

----------

I'm going to put this bluntly: Ignore the religious mumbo-jumbo floating around here.

These are not demons or devils.

If you were to pray against them, and they remained, as they are nothing but a dream state and not beholden to spiritual rules, you would only cause more panic in yourself and intensify the hypnagogia and sleep paralysis, which will only cause you more stress from these occurances.

Treat this for what it is -- a sleep disorder. Nothing more, nothing less.

It's called Phantomania. - sleep paralysis

As a Catholic I would say to get blessed salt and spread it around your room.

Get a St. Benedict medal (or several) have it blessed and wear it. Learn the words to it. It is a micro-exorcism.

While this website says the cross is the back of the medal, that's incorrect. St. Benedict is on the back. The cross is on the front.

http://www.osb.org/gen/medal.html

If you are Protestant and the idea of holy water and blessed medals makes you uncomfortable, then just copy the words.

Write down the prayer. Learn the words. Remember what you can in Latin. All the exorcists I've ever spoken to say demons hate Latin.

Crux sacra sit mihi lux!
May the holy cross be my light!

Nunquam draco sit mihi dux!
May the dragon never be my guide!

Vade retro Satana! Nunquam suade mihi vana!
Begone Satan! Never tempt me with your vanities!

Sunt mala quae libas. Ipse venena bibas!
What you offer me is evil. Drink the poison yourself!

Sleep paralysis is scary, it is upsetting... but it is in the mind, it is a sleep disorder.

If you are religious and you believe in god, then I suggest, at times like that to pray, if only to keep your mind of whatever you are 'dreaming' about.

I also suffer from it, although what I feel is certainly not related to religion, but then again - I am not religious.

It's natural. To put it in technical jargon your brain's motor functions shut down hence you are paralysed but other parts of the brain that are connected with dream sleep are still functioning.

I would firstly advise that you ask Jesus Christ for His help. Try and keep praying. If you tell the demon/devil to flee saying-go in the name of Jesus Christ-then the demon has no choice but to depart. Such is the power of Jesus' name. Also I would suggest you visit a minister/vicar/priest for advice. May God protect you.
I have just seen Jelly's advice. I would say that if you are experiencing these things then it is not imaginary-it is real. Perhaps you are being attacked because God has something He wants you to do for Him
