To stop them from mating remove the nest box and any nesting materials that are in the cage. Most bird will not mate if there is not a proper place to raise the babies.
You can leave the two together. I have had a male and female tgether for years with no egg laying or mating.
You need to see if the eggs are fertile, if they are you can get rid of the babies by shaking the egg or breaking it(not the most ethical thing IMO, but its the only way), replace eggs with fake ones so she stops laying.
If they are not fertile leave them in, otherwise she will continue to lay, thinking preditors have taken the eggs. This will deplete her body of calcium. When she is done laying/sitting on the eggs take them out.

Don't just take the eggs out or she will more to replace them You can put fake eggs instead. You will need to let her sit until she abandons the eggs. Make sure she has a cuttlebone and feed high calcium foods such as broccoli, kale and mustard greens. To stop them from mating separate the birds into side by side cages. He may fuss awhile but he will settle down as long as he can see her. Once she has finished her cycle, discourage egg laying by increasing her hours of darkness to at least 10-12 per night and move things around in her cage and her cage too if possible. If that doesn't work see an avian vet who may give her Lupron to stop the egg laying. Good luck. Tiel mom.

Take the eggs away. My parakeets just had two clutches of eggs this year. I have a cute baby chick.
The hen may or may not stop laying but you can take them out but make sure you do it the same day. If you want babies it takes 18 to 21 days but usually they will lay 6-8 eggs. Not all of them hatch.

If you are experienceing problems with segregating the birds, then your only option is to dispose of the eggs. But remember, they are probably fertalized eggs, which means there is a living growing parakeet inside. Maybe you can contact a local breeder to take the eggs to be hatched and given a chance at being a well loved pet too!

I've been told you can replace the eggs with fake ones of the same size and color, and the birds will sit on them forever without laying new ones.

If she's laying and you don't want her to have the eggs, then take them out.

all you have to do is take the eggs on of her cage and they won't hatch. Also try seperating your male form your female so that she doesn't lay anymore eggs.
