I have a niece that wants to leave home. She will be 13 soon. Her parents are emotionally and verbally abusive to her. We are a tight nit family. I have recently confronted her to let her know that her grandmother and I do know what's going on. That when she's ready to leave we will take her into one of our homes. We just aren't sure at what age she could leave and not be considered a run away. I am her aunt, making me her mother's sister. Her grandmother and I know that this will tear our family apart, but we know that she, my sister, is hurting her daugter. I believe that the only thing that can be done is to get my niece out of the home envirinment. But at what age can she leave? My niece is made to take care of several younger children and clean the house. She's not allowed to be a child. Which, is a very important part of life.
