Isn't a sad commentary on how American society has become overly dependent on cheap labor.

I didn't say mexican labor but cheap labor, below market wages labor. I too enjoy their fine cuisine and many mexican people. I guess the film producers who made this were also racist?

I see many people have not seen the movie, but just hear the word Mexican and think I am being racist. Let's get some facts straight, the makers of this movie were hispanics me the viewer is an Arab. Second, when I say cheap labor I in no way mean mexicans only, because obviously there are illegals in all different shapes sizes and colors. Third for the few who have seen it it is not an attack on mexicans but really the wealthy hypocrites who say that illegals are sucking our system dry, yet many of the luxuries they enjoy are because of the work illegals do. Wow too many people would rather just speak out of their *** than actually make thoughtful insightful comments.

I OWN the movie and I thought it was funny yet so true!
Some in society would truly fall apart if there were no mexicans or any race offering the services that were in the movie.
We as americans take these things for granted never realizing how some of our fruits get to us, or how those dishes get done...who picks up the kids from school, who paints the house etc.....
America is over dependent on cheap labor but I am not complaining...some companies pass on the savings!!!

Alright I'm Mexican and I'm not offended and yes i seen the movie.I LOVED IT. I was born here my dad was born in Texas just over the border and my mom is white. My dad's side of the family used to follow the farms. The documentary is very true. the movie didn't take on a serious role. It is a very insightful movie but yet you are able to laugh.
And yes it is cheap labor. Its funny that people get upset that we have immigrants coming here for work. i used to work for a medical product company it employed @ 500-700 people and was good paying job. Well the company closed and move to Mexico. they got cheaper labor and less benefits(maybe none). Go figure

You say that like cheap labor is a new concept invented just to describe what Mexicans are doing.
I got news for you, bub. The appeal of Slavery was that it was thought to be cheap labor (whether it was or not is questionable, but that was the intent).
My own grandfather was an indentured servant, meaning his family got some money, and he had to work for seven years for room and board.
Many companies give sales positions no salary at all, paying them only commission. It doesn't get much cheaper for a company than that.
What about coal miners in the Appalachians? Haven't you ever heard the songs out of the coal mines about how they'd work a lifetime for the company, and die deep in debt to the company that provided housing, food, and necessities?
I'm not saying we're not dependent on cheap labor, and I'm not saying Mexicans aren't doing it. I'm saying if you think this is new, you're wrong.

Yes I have seen it, and it is a sad reality of how Americans do take advantage of "cheap labor". Day laborers, sweat shops, factories, and the rich use them to do all the things they do not want to do. I work in construction and I have alot of work in the upper class neighborhood of Atlanta, and you would be surprised of how many of these cheap laborers are out in the yards doing the landscaping, all the maids that are afraid to speak up because of abuse at the hands of their employer, go and get your car detailed who is the one doing the work? It really gets me mad when they are the first ones to use them for labor, but yet they are the first ones to complain and pitch of fit about them being here. It is truly a sad world we are living in when no one cares about these people but let them not show up for work and you would have thought that it was the end of the world. Good question and point you made.

Many Americans do reap the benefits of so called "CHEAP LABOR". Yet, more do not and must foot the bill for illegal aliens using and abusing a lot of services most Americans are not entitled to. Check the ongoing debate on hospital emergency rooms being required by law to perform medical services on uninsured and yes illegal aliens.

Yes. It was more 'a day without interstate trade,' since it not only postulated Mexicans disapearing from California (inconvenient to say the least), but California being cut off completely from the rest of the world (devestating). An effective anti-isolationist tale.

I'm 56 years old. Back in the 60's there were no mexicans anywhere I went. In the 70's & 80's there were none. I recall seeing mexicans only in Texas and I've traveled most all states in the CONUS. Now these people are everywhere. In Northern Louisiana one gave me the "bird" sign for no reason. In Houston one ran me off the road almost causing a deadly crash. In Omaha,NE one looked at me as if he'd like to smash my face in. [Good thing he didn't try]. They're going to create ruins of our USA. I served 32 years as an NCO in the US ARMY and am entitled to feel what I feel about this. None of them served the USA. They fly the American flag upsidedown in CA at a mexican school. One day this country will explode due to being overcrowded. At the present rate of expansion and population growth...............it'll one day explode.

Really? I think that it's even worst to have anyone legal or illegal caring for your elderly parents, relatives, because you are too lazy and ungreatful for those that raised you to become haters as well to the point of even hating your own ******* sangre pendejos!
The reason that they who hate Mexicans continue to be offended by our Mexican culture. Is because we don't have to suck up to them as they would like for us to do! They hate the fact that we are our own inner circle and the fact that we have no real need to do as "they must" lest they stop hanging unto their: " Parents Green Acres/Walton's fairy tales"coat-tales...
WIMPY-WIMPY-WIMPY...
And they really envy the fact that we have our own broadcasting channels,music,beliefs,etc.etc...
That we can switch to back and forth for being bi-lingual,instead of bi-sexual,throwed-off rotten kids. That in the end place parents in retirement homes just to not be burden with those who gave them life.
Which they reap what they sow and all one needs to do is rewind history and wapaa there lies the evidence of true cowardliness

nope and I don't plan to.
That movie is HOLLYWOOD, not reality! The only reality I know about when it comes to illegals is that they are criminals for breaking our laws, they shouldn't be here and we don't need them!
I don't think we are overly dependent on cheep labor. We could get along just fine if they just all left! (proof - May 1, 2006 protest - we don't need them!)
