I think that everyone should ask questions about the bible... and they should read it to find out some of those answers themselves too, but to say you don't have the right to ask questions is not a Christian thing to do.... because at one point, those people were seeking and questioning as well.

Hi there !
If you remember the story of Jesus - from his arrest to him finally being crucified - the people who rejected and persecuted him were also religious bigots who thought they were way above everyone else !
If you look at the story - Jesus rejected the religious scholars of the time and favored the poor and un-educated ( don't know if that's the right word) so what does that tell you about these so called scholars of today.
You could read and presume to understand every word in the bible and still not be a good Christian - It amazes me that even after 2000 years of history people have still not learned that.
Ask yourself - if Jesus were to return today would he embrace some churches of today with their gold and expensive robes. Would he agree with the people, your talking about ,that because you don't know every word in the bible - your not a good Christian ?
I don't think so either !
I hope the people who made you feel that you had no right to discuss the bible are reading this !
If they are I'd look in the mirror and question your attitude - look up the word humble - it is very closely related to Jesus !
Sorry to get on my soap-box
E-Mail me anytime - and we can discuss anything regarding the bible - Oh by the way I haven't read it all either so I must be unworthy as well.
Take care

Nowadays Christianity is an exclusive club. You are SOOOO right. Believing what you want to believe and praying to who you wish to pray to is your right. And whether you've read one page of the Bible or the whole thing you should feel free to discuss it. Everyone seems to use it as the basis for everything so if you have questions you should find an educated person to discuss it with. Not with some snooty self-proclaimed Christians who most likely haven't read it themselves. You are an individual, a human-being and are 100% equal to every other person on the planet. Whether they be the President, the janitor or a religious scholar. It is in your best interest to question EVERYTHING! That's how you will learn the truth from the hype.

No. However, many people seeking answers for whatever reason and ask those questions of some christians they run into opposition. I have found that this is because they don't know the answer themselves. With that being said. This is not for all christians. I encourage you to first read the bible for yourself and then really study it. There is alot more there to what meats the eyes. You need to study the time, place costumes. For example many have taken the contents of women are to be silent in the church as an overall statement for all women and women should not preach. However, this was a statement from Paul about the Church of corinthian for a specific reason. At the time the were certain unruly women that interuppted the teachings of God. In reading the bible one will find many women that were prophets and ministered Ruth, Deborah, just to name two.

First of all, that wasn't right for whoever had that attitude towards your question. It's perfectly fine to ask questions. Bible Scholars do not know EVERYTHING. No one does. It's constant learning and thinking throughout your lifetime. So, what would they know anyway? They may know MOST of it, but different people are affected different ways by it, so... I dont think anyone has to be a Bible Scholar to ask these questions or answer them. It's wonderful that you have questions and if I can, i'll help you answer them in any way I can. Keep asking, because if you dont ask, you wont learn.
If you have any questions, I'll try to help you the best I can, just add me to your friends or whatever on my profile here. Have a good day!

Ask all of the questions you want. No, Christianity isn't an exclusive club. That's not a good attitude to have. I haven't read the entire Bible yet. If I ever have any questions, I'll find someone to ask.

Most Christians have not really read through the Bible completely. Making a statement about the qualifications of the curious is just rude and ignorant.
People who tell you, that you don't have the right to question something, because you don't have a full understanding of it are stupid. The only way you could learn is by questioning. If someone states that you have no right to question something you don't understand, they are probably trying to hide the fact that they don't have any answers that make sense for you.

In my humble opinion, one of the main goals of Christianity is to spread its message to those who know nothing, or very little of it.
Therefore to say that one must be a scholar before questions about the Bible are asked goes against Christianity itself. In that regards, no - It wouldn't be the proper attitude to take.
None the less, I must add this... there are those who don't take the time to research the Bible, yet, they take strong stands on certain issues and argue with others who may be more knowledgeable. That to me is ignorance.
In short... we can ask, but we can't act like we know when we really do not.

The point of the previous question was that you cannot pass judgement on something like the Bible, if you don't know all the facts, myself included. Based on what I know to date, I choose to accept, until someone PROVES otherwise, that what the Good Book says is true.Christianity is not an excusive club as Christians would like all to know Jesus but don't expect us to sit there and be kicked time after time and not to stand up for ourselves once in a while.

What questions? How can anybody question the Bible? Don't you know that every single word in the Bible is true? Don't you know the Bible was written by God himself? The only question is which computer the God used when writing the Bible, PC or Mac (personally I think he used a typewriter, but some scholars say it was a computer.)
