If I don't believe the Bible about God creating Adam and Eve, why would I believe it's accounts about Jesus? They were written long after he died, as well. Is there any reason not to believe it was all made up, all the witnesses, all the events? Is there more evidence for Jesus' resurrection or for the existence of extraterrestrials? hmmmm

Well, it seems unlikely anyone would have made it up. There were many against Christians in that day, so certainly if anyone knew of the whereabouts of Christ's body they would have blown the whistle.

Additionally, what would be the motivation for 12 men and a few women to make this claim? For what? What did they gain by making up this story? Persecution for one...torture...death. Not really something that would motivate most of us to make up stories.

Also, Paul lists several witnesses in 1 Corinthians 15:3-8. Among Jesus' disciples, there were 500 other witnesses. Their witness to the resurrection has stood the test of time. Many of them put to death because they would not recant their account.

If you understand what you are questioning and do the research, you'll find that there are many reasons to know the resurrection is true and therefore our faith is not in vain.

Some accounts of Jesus' life were not written "long after he died."
Matthew completed his book by the year 41.
Luke, by the year 56.
Also, the works of Tacitus, Suetonius, Josephus, Pliny the Younger, and a few other classical writers include numerous references to Jesus.
Of them, The New Encyclopædia Britannica (1995) says:
“These independent accounts prove that in ancient times even the opponents of Christianity never doubted the historicity of Jesus...."

If you don't believe the Bible, then there is no point in discussing it, and you can go on with your blissful ignorance.

But if the tomb was empty - what does that mean?

You have one book written, re-written and translated by dozens of men with dozens of agendas. That does not constitute plausible evidence.

If you don't believe in any of that stuff, why are you asking about it? Is there any reason why you should even care?
