it varies from state to state, neons that are blue are illegal because cops can only have blue lights on there car. tint can be illegal not because the cop can't see you. it is illegal because it makes it harder to see out your windows, that's why you can have a mirror tint at 35% that no one can see in but it legal

Every answer that responds with blame upon the police need to research how and who make the laws. Blaming police for neon lighting is going in the wrong direction.

Police enforce the laws made by the legislators YOU vote for!

Tint laws were developed for more than just law enforcement safety purposes....excessive tinting is a safety hazard to the driver who is unable to see clearly at night time.

Neon lighting exceeds the limits of permissable lighting upon a vehicle and therefore illegal. Just like being distracted from your thumping and bumping with loud music....improper lighting on the roadways is also a safety issue!

Again....police only enforce those laws your legislators make! Don't blame the police!

Best wishes!

Yes. The tint is so that others can see into the car (namely police officers), and the neon is a distraction to beoth the driver and other drivers.

neon lights pose a distraction to other drivers at night, tint is not illegal but there are certain percentages of darkness that are prohibited by law mainly due to officer safety, if a cop pulls a vehicle over with the windows rolled up and cannot see inside he is putting his safety at risk because he cannot see what is going on inside

Well neon I don't understand, only thing is that its a distraction on the road, I guess it will cause an accident. The tint is because too darker the police can't see you.

ok i could be wrong..i believe the neon lights is illegal because it could cause distraction or blindness while passing (same with blue lights) and tinted windows is only illegal for the front windows ..because the cops cant see you.

IT'S A GOOD WAY TO SUMMONS NEW DRIVERS. MOSTLY YOUNGER DRIVERS HAVE THAT STUFF ON THEIR CARS. I GUESS IT'S A MEANS OF CONTROL. I CAN'T SEE WHY NEON'S WOULD DISTRACT. KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE ROAD. TINTS ARE THE POLICES WAY OF SAYING THAT WE DON'T HAVE THE FREEDOM TO DO WHAT EVER WE WANT IN OUR CARS.
