The biggest problem people have, when people come up with totally off the wall understanding or should I say a lack of understanding of the Bible is when someone tries to take something literally that was intended as figurative speech or when someone takes something as a figure of speech that was intended to be taken literally.

Casting pearls before swine is not about real pearls or about real pigs.

And when Jesus said its harder for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven than for a camel to pass thru the eye of a needle, Jesus was not talking about a sewing needle.

I love that some of the answerer's don't think You got the symbolism. The only way it could possibly be a pearl is if it's shoved up, well the comparative place where that rabbit pellet came from.

Pearls. Hmmm. The sickly secretions of diseased mollusks, which have no actual use in real life but are highly prized by idiots for no appreciable reason. Swine. Intelligent, powerful omnivores who actively seek out their own food and do not take crap from anybody. I think that might be an appropriate, even somewhat flattering metaphor.

I see what you're getting at here...OK listen when Jesus said "let he that is among you that is without sin cast the first stone" that was a similar quotation. My feelings on this matter is perhaps you are looking at the statement too narrowly. Broaden your prospective a little, then perhaps you'll see that the pearl is "God's word" and the swine are wicked men.

Your question is a perfect example of WHY you don't cast pearls before swine.
It will be trampled in the mud and rendered useless.
Why give the profane a divine gift when it will not be appreciated for what it is?

I know you understand...and you remain irreverent. Thus you make the parable come true. Yes it does smell...arrogance always does.

lol.

Yeah - swine never do know the difference.

But, pearls usually become swine feces if we are dumb enough to give it to them.

AS PER YOUR ADDITIONAL DETAILS:

Actually I was hoping you would catch the meaning of our "little analogy." That's not arrogant - that's honesty.

That is why we are not to cast pearls before swine, the swine does not recognise it's worth.

If you consider yourself swine, why do you expect to see pearls?
