Her vulva will swell, and leak a bright red discharge that changes to straw colored over time, her nipples may swell as well. What reason did your vet give for waiting for a heat to pass before spaying? You are now coming into (possibly) a few eek time frame in which your dog attracts every male around and is quite intent on getting pregnant.

You obviously have an excellent vet! Far better to let a large breed like a Boxer mature physically & mentally before spaying & much less chance of incontinence problems after too. First sign you will probably see is that she will lose a little blood, easily noticed if you check her bed 1st thing in the morning, you may also noitce the odd drop on the backs of her legs or on the floor. Her vulva (not vagina!) will gradually swell. She will lose bright red blood for around 10 days then the discharge will become lighter in colour & amount. This is when she is at her most fertile & ready for mating, so it's the most important time to keep her away from other dogs. She will be ready for mating for around 4 days, then the signs will gradually subside although her vulva will never return to its original "discreet" size. To be on the safe side, keep her away from males for 28 days. Count the first day of her season as the one when you first see blood. You may find she is a bit preoccupied just before & while she is in season. She may also be less obedient & may try to escape to find the boys!

This is her first time going into heat? Wow. The signs are pretty obvious. Swelling in the nipples and the vaginal area. After a week or two she'll start to bleed a little bit. Go to your local pet store and buy sanitary pads and the diaper/holder that goes with it so you don't get blood drips all over your house or apartment. Chances are she may be a little bit more cuddly with you, and maybe more hyper or more tired (I've had both happen). She'll be extremely horny too, lol. We have a male dog next door and when he would come outside, or dog would howl until she couldn't howl anymore. it was sad at one point, but hah, she was six months and definately not ready for puppies yet:)
Good luck! It will last for a couple weeks - can be up to three weeks. Good luck!!

Well many vets actually prefer spaying before a bi tch has her 1st season at about 6months old.If this is your bitches first season then changes might be very suttle, she will be cleaning her self much more, she may eat more or less, become more overly affectionate. Her vulva will swell which is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about, she will also start to spot blood around the house,if you have wooden floors obviously easy to spot, with larger dogs i have heard that it can get very messy!!You must remember even now as you think she's coming into season, not to let her around male dogs, walks should be on the lead and where you know other dogs arn't going to be.If you own a male dog keep them seperated!!Good luck and well done for planning on spaying her.

One of the physical signs that a ***** is coming into season is that her teats may enlarge and redden, she may also start to lick herself and her back end will start to enlarge and look soft. When she comes into season she will have a brownish red discharge from her back end.
She is quite safe to be exercised as normal until about 9 days into her season after that keep a very close eye on her and keep her on a lead to avoid unwelcome attentions from male. Her season will l last about 21 days, after which time she will stop discharging and her behind will shrink back to it usual size. If you are wanting to get her spayed, wait for about 12 weeks after her season to allow her hormones to settle before the operation. The reason for the wait is seasons usually occur once every 6-12 months, vets generally advice to wait until half way between seasons before spaying.

You will see vaginal swelling. She will have blood coming from the vagina and will probably lick herself alot more than usual. She may have some clear straw colored discharge around the second week. If you suspect she is coming into heat, try this. Get a soft cloth and every morning AS SOON AS you wake up swipe it across her genitals. She hasn't had time to clean yet so if she has started bleeding you will see it. Some females are extremely clean and this is the only way to find the blood. If you find foul smelling, green, or pus-like discharge, get to the vet ASAP.

Normally the first season starts at age 6 to 9 months, then every 6 months. She will be extra affectionate, excited and will drop spots of blood from the "front passage". You MUST keep her in the house away from other dogs for the next three weeks unless you want mongrel pups. She may have had one season that you didn't notice (first season can be very light).

First of all...get a different vet. There is no reason to let your dog have a heat before spaying. Secondly, just get her spayed NOW before you run the risk of her getting "caught" and having an unwanted, hard to place and all around expensive litter. Lastly, the signs of a ***** in heat would be a swollen vulva, mucus or bloody mix discharge, excessive licking in genital area, and so on.

sure, it would want to be a demonstration. some dogs get moody for the time of heats, yet extra frequently than not the snapping is because she's starting up to sniff interesting and the different dogs is being pestering and impolite because of this. imagine being continually stared at or groped through kinfolk contributors and digital strangers once you're literally not the least fascinated in them. that is adequate to make maximum lose their mood and positioned the criminal in his/her position. that is not likely that she will be in a position of damage your different dogs, yet keep an eye fixed on them and do not go away them on my own unsupervised - also, do not allow the different dogs pester her. once you've an intact male you want to keep them thoroughly aside until eventually her warmth is over and keep her from different intact adult males to boot (21 days from initiate to end, I continuously opt to provide it some better days merely in case). under no circumstances less than-estimate the sneakiness of dogs in warmth and the adult males fascinated in them. there have been matings by crates, adult males breaking in by slightly open homestead windows, dogs scaling fences you'll have sworn they were unable to get over etc. playstation . 9 months is likewise the position maximum dogs are attaining adulthood. you're seeing dominance topics and under no circumstances warmth-appropriate topics.
