The way to get out of the DUI is to keep 100% ethanol in your car. When you get pulled over and you ARE drunk, get some of the ethanol in your mouth. When you blow, it will vaporize and register WAY over the lethal dose and the breathalyzer readings will be considered invalid. The cop will have to return to the station to recalibrate the unit and will have to let you go on lack of evidence.
NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They don't have to have a breathalyzer reading to haul you in and they can give you a blood test. Good luck getting around an accurate reading there. The best way to beat a breathalyzer? Don't have anything to drink when you drive. Do it for the sake of my 3 daughters and every other child out there. (Incidentally, at 43, I'm still my father's child...)

The theory is that copper acts as a catalyst allowingthe alcohol to react to become aldehyde. That is true. Trouble is all of the breath would have to be in close contact with the copper for some time to have enough effect. A solid lump of copper will not achieve this. Old, new machine makes no difference.
Ways to improve your chances, distribute the copper, fill your mouth with a copper sponge, or copper powder. mmmm.(copper is only a bit toxic, you might survive)
Also as the reaction is faster at higher temperature, perhaps fill your mouth with a red hot copper sponge. Bet that would affect the reading. Trouble is you need to be pretty drunk to try that, and it kind of defeats the purpose when it burns your mouth to bits and poisons you.
Basic chemistry suggests that copper does not have enough catalytic effect at body temperature to make a difference. Even a copper dish csourer is not distributed finely enough to offer any hope. The kind of sponge you would need would be rather noticeable to even a blind police officer.
So would a mouth chockers full of activeated carbon, just a bit under the tougne will do no good at all.
As they say, if the plice officer has any doubts they can take you in for a blood test. You can refuse on religeous grounds perhaps, but I guess they can then get nasty with you to.
Here they would simply beat the sh*t out of you. (On the bright side they dont have breathalysers and most of the police are to drunk to notice any drunken motorists.) In some countries they might decide you're a suspected terrorist and you may not be heard of again. "Renditioned"
All up best not to drink and drive. Get a taxi.

There is a myth that putting a penny in your mouth will cause a breathalizer to register no alcohol on your breath. They tested this one on Mythbusters and was not true. It had no effect on the breathalizer and also the person carrying out the test said that if they think the person has something in their mouth they will make the person remove it before the test. Imagine being drunk (or at least tipsy) and trying to hide pennies in your mouth and trying to talk to a police officer about to administer a breathalizer.

It has no affect, one way or another. Mythbusters did a show on this last year. None of the urban legend remedies worked and some even made the reading higher, such as some breath sprays.

Copper, like sucking a penny, is supposed to confuse a breathalyser but unfortunately it's an urban myth.

particular will yet it really is why the protocol has the tester wait even as observing you for a minimum of 20 minutes. exams instruct any alcohol contained in the mouth after that element is over, regardless of if the mouth is saved closed is lengthy gone.

The old style breathalisers used to be fooled by this and loads of people got away with it for years but since the new digital ones they use there is no getting away with it I am afraid. Not that you should want to get away with it mind!

Not according to MYTHbusters, it does not. They tested it and several others about two seasons ago, and found NO way to beat it, or at least no way they would put on tv lol
