That's a bit high for that bike. If it was in great shape with no cosmetic damage to the frame, and a new cassette, chain, and brake pads, $1000 might be reasonable, but no more.
If the frame/ fork is pretty much flawless, but the bike looks used but everything works, maybe $750?
If you see any damage to the frame or fork that goes deeper than the paint, don't buy it...period.
If it has been crashed, don't buy it...period.
Don't buy it unless you can fully inspect it first.
Don't buy it from someone you don't know, or at least someone that one of your best friends can vouch for.
Carbon does not handle impact very well and you could be looking at a catastrophic failure if the guy selling it 'forgot to mention' that crash last fall, even if it didn't damage the frame.
If you're prepared to spend $1100 on a bike, I would go for something new, maybe a bit lower end for a few more bucks. You'll get the same performance with out the risk.
BTW - 8000 miles on a 4 year old bike of that level is nothing. As long as the bike has been maintained and not crashed it's probably fine. Actually, on a bike of that level, I would consider 5000 miles in _one_ year to be pretty average.

I may be mistaken as sometimes I do not have a firm grasp of time. (I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong.) But 4 year old Dura Ace is probably 9 speed and the old bottom bracket style. Which is about equivalent to todays 105. If you can kick in a few hundred more you can get a brand new Trek 5000 full carbon with ultegra/105 for about $1500- $1600. (In my area).

This bike has a TON of miles on it. I'm assuming the frame is pretty nicked up and components are well used. No way! $500-$700....very most and I'd say that's pushin' it. Really pushin' it. On top of that...I am not a big fan of Trek or Shimano, but it is Dura-Ace.

1,100 is a great price for this bike on paper. But i'd be careful.
This bike really does not have that many miles on contrary to what you might think. 8000 miles in 4 years comes down to about 40 miles per week. This is the kind of bike that should be ridden 40 miles per day by most riders in training. many racers ride 5,000 to 10,000 miles per year. Their components do last longer that a year.
My concern is more about the frame. Caron fiber bikes do not age gracefully. If the previous owner rode the bike in races or did any agressive riding, I'd probably stay away from it.

Madrider is correct about the high miles.
Bikes with carbon fiber frames age much faster than those built with other materials especially when you get to the more expensive models. The frames fatigue quite quickly and so have a limited life.
I'm not worried so much about the components.
If it were mine I would be tickled to get $400 to $500 cash for it, then I'd run the other way, but I would expect to get around $300.

A brand new (2007) version with Ultegra components runs around US$1900 in my area of the country. I've seena couple with DuraAce ... I'd estimate a tag of maybe US$2150 for a brand new one (trading in the Ultegra components for DuraAce at the time of sale).
If I was going to be buying a carbon frame, I'd be checking it VERY carefully ... if I was inclined to buy a used one at all. My first offer for the machine you're thinking about would probably be $280-300 ... with a maximum of $375 outlay.
