I'm an over eater. I have numerous physical illnesses which I believe link directly to this problem. It's also very mental. Your body structure can only hold so much weight. Once you've become overweight, you are forcing your body to overwork! Same with the other end of the disorder, your body is overworking to compensate. Just think of how you feel on an everyday day basis, you know, when your boss asks you to work harder or longer hours, then you go home and your signif. other wants you to do more work. Maybe you've been going through this for an entire week or month. You get wiped out right and you get pretty cranky too! Same thing with your organs. They get sick too and don't want to work anymore too. Keep your insides healthy and happy and your outsides will be too. When your stomach hurts,it's telling you to lay off, when your feet and legs hurt to extremes they are telling you they can't carry the weight. Same with your back. I can't speak for the other end of the spectrum, but I'm sure their bodies are rebelling as well. Your body tells you, you just have to quit ignoring it! For example...... Do you ever just crave certain fruits or veggies, or get sick of eating something even if it has been your favorite?

Placing you body in an underweight or overweight condition that stresses the body out can make you more susceptible to illness and malfunctioning of your organs. Such a strain on a person's physical condition for extended periods of time can drain you of much of your energy and functioning. People who do not eat, for example, have difficulty concentrating and reasoning, and may also suffer from mood problems. People with bulimia can lose their teeth from exposure to stomach acid. Unnecessary stress can wear down a person's health so that the next time an illness like the flu goes around, that person is most likely to catch it and to have serious complications - like pneumonia.

Good nutrition on an ongoing basis, lower stress levels, some exercise, and healthy emotional relationships all work together toward the healthiest body you can have.

You lose your health, and you have lost a lot of your living.

disordered eating helped ruin what I thought was "my life" -- it's been a year, and I am still picking up pieces to what it all entails. It's not just eating disorders people have to deal with, when suffering from them. They are comorbid and the symptom most often of bigger problems like borderline personality disorder.

Nothing, and I mean, nothing good can come from having an eating disorder. You may think it does when you are inside of the eye of the hurricane... but in reality, nothing good ever.

Of course...There are so many different ways eating disorders can effect one's health and appearance (and not for the better as one would hope). If one persists with an eating disorder long enough (i.e. anorexia) that sometimes that damage can be fatal due to organ shut down. What concerns me is that you don't seem to think eating disorders are bad (reading between the lines of your question). Are you one of the many I see on her asking for advice about eating disorders (i.e. what kind of laxatives to use, etc.)?

Sometimes and other times just to make a point. Yes, I do agree. Most eating disorders begin with low self esteem. I have dealt with many annies and bulemics and find this to be true. Please seek help and read more literature on this subject rather than using this kind of forum. You will get too many sarcastic remarks here which can bring you down fast.
