LDS? Cause its a drug! Anyone taking LDS should'nt be President of the US because LDS is a drug that can mess with your mind. Who would want a President on LDS at the controls? Thats the stuff that can kill you and even makes you halucinate, I think.

It wouldn't be a problem. Politics is about what they will do in office, not what they believe. However, people do not know much about LDS members, and some have a general prejudice against them just as some people have against other religions. The LDS church is unique though, because it is relatively small, and many people do not know their basic beliefs, but there are still strong sentiments against them.

I keep hearing/seeing about an LDS US President on here recently; why not? What prompted it anyway? The LDS seems to be closer to scripture than many Americans currently realize anyway.

It depends on your frame of mind.
If his religion matters to you, it would be a problem.
*10% of what he is paid goes to the LDS church, if you don't want your money as a tax payer to go there, then it would be a problem
*If you are concerned with the history of the LDS church, it would be a problem
However, if you vote or against the person and not for or against his/her religion, it isn't a problem.
I think, regardless of who it is, you should base your vote on the person and his/her ideals, not where he/she goes to worship.

I think there are many problems with Romney, but I have no problem with an LDS president, as long as his or her religion isn't used to affect public policy. I wouldn't want to see caffeine banned or limited, for instance.

I don't see a problem as long as he remembers that the US Constitution guarantees Religious Freedom. If the a President tries to impose his religion on everyone, then he will have a crisis similar to the Civil War.

No way to know. I think the LDS church is a problem, though, and any way an LDS president could help or encourage them would be bad. The church does not respect freedom, logic, history, honesty, integrity, or environmental concerns.

It would be a problem if he tries to make legislature(sp?) based off of his beliefs rather than what is good for the country and its people. But that goes for any president who has a faith.
But remember this, Romney used to be pro-choice and supported gay rights...if not marriage.
Now he's pro'life and against giving equal rights to gays......gee, I certainly see a problem here.
Has nothing to do with him being LDS or catholic or protestant or methodist.

It couldn't be any worse than what we have presently. Although after seeing him run Massachusetts for 4 years it may be a toss up.

I am big on separation of church and state so a person's religion is of no concern to me in politics. However, there is a huge majority who feels differently than I do...and they run this country RIGHT NOW.
