My husband and I were together for twelve years and married for seven years before I had his name tattooed on my lower back. I won't regret it - even if we get a divorce he was my first husband and the father of my three son's.

Most people I know only regret the tattoos that they got when they were very young that had no meaning. My ex had pimp on his back and got it when he was 15, he got that covered up when he was 18 with a very nice dragon. It sounds as if you thought this through, but if your not sure take more time. I was 13 when I wanted my first tattoo and I had a good friend that was an artist so he could have gave me one, but I held off another ten years just to be sure. I am not as afraid as I was to get something done because after seeing Riders cover up I think most things can be covered in the future if I change my mind.

A guy I dated had his first wife's name covered when he married his second wife. He had her name tattooed on him as well. When I was dating him, after he had broken up with wife #2, I went with him to cover up her name. He suggested that he could get my name done, I said no. We broke up about a month later.
Unless you're getting the name of your child, or other family member, it's usually not a good idea (a beloved pet's name would be okay too). The sad reality is that relationships end. We all hope that they last, but there are no guarentees.

I do not think that it is a name thing.. I got a tat on my 21st birthday it was not a name, but a symbol of something. My ex husband paid for it and picked it out.. I regret getting it, simply because it reminds me of a time in my life that i dont look back fondly on.. I would not recommend getting any tatoos that are later going to remind you of someone, other then children, family etc... whether it be a name or a symbol..

Thats one thing you never want to do; even though your with someone for a long time or you'll always think your going to be close and never stop liking eachother it's bond to happen it's like a 95% chance your friendship or relationship will fall apart this day n age. it's sad but it's true. best advice i could think is... thank god they can tattoo over things now. I mean now you can get a flower; or a star matters how big the tattoo is... but you can still get something over it.

I have several tattoos, and am dead set against tattooing names. Nine times out of ten you will regret it. The only exceptions I make is if it is in rememberance of a loved one.

i got my boyfriends name tattooed on me when i was 16 . we were together 5 years but we broke up on bad terms for what he did to me . i use to regret it because when ever i looked at it , it reminded me of how much i hated him for what he did. but i'm older now and i don't really care about the tattoo anymore , i don't have any regrets because if my next b/f truly loves me he won't care about the tattoo :)

I am going to get names tattooed on me- they will be my kids' names. Other than that, no I would never get anyone's name tattooed on me, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard! You almost never ever end up staying together, and then you're left trying to figure out how to get it covered.
I once had a boyfriend though, who thought it was funny to suggest to his girlfriends that if they really loved him they'd get his brand tattooed on them... That was when he was younger- twenty and younger.... doesn't do that anymore, but he says there are a LOT of girls walking around now with his brand. LOL

I have my son's name tattooed on my hip. Personally I think he will live unconditionally in my life forever. However I would not tatoo any other name on my body, even my husbands! Names are a no no. But I can justify having your own child's name, unless of course its a totally ridiculous name....hehehe!

i have 4 tats but no names. my current b/f HAD his g/f's name when he was a kid (16) tated oh is ankle and her initals on his knuckles. they have since been covered as a request of his g/f after her when he was 19. hes 30 now, and doesnt necessarily regret it because he wanted it at the time and it was just as easily covered up.
