Eggs have been around a lot longer than
chickens have been around. Indeed, they
have existed for longer than there have been
birds.

Although the lines between species are not
as exact as one might think, this question
only becomes unobvious if you change it to
read "which came first, the chicken or the
chicken's egg?"

Generally species mutation happens to the gametes
prior to conception. That is, either the egg or
the sperm had mutated and produced a fertilized
egg that was genetically closer to the current
chicken. At some point, the predessor wasn't
a chicken, and the result was a chicken. That is,
the fertilized egg was the precursor to the current
chicken.

So even the non-obvious answer is "Egg".

The Bible says God created the animals. So, I believe the chicken came first. If the egg had come first, what would have sat on it to keep it warm until it hatched?

The chicken came first.

If the chicken didn't come first the egg wouldn't have anything to sit on it to help it hatch.
