*Effective
I think they have been offended because christians say that they are the most tolerant and loving but as any old history book would imply, this is not the case. And I am deeply offended by anyone that spouts out talking about something they don't know anything about yet use it as a defense. Just because they heard someone else repeat it, they think that it's right. Most christians have NO understanding of science and the little that they do know is WRONG WRONG WRONG. yet they act like they know it all because some book told them so. Seriously how ridiculous is that argument??? Muslims believe the Qu'uran is right because it says so. How are they wrong and christians right? What makes christians so presumptious in nature that they believe they are right about everything? That they can not be wrong.
Their arguments are weak and can not be validated.

I totally and utterly know what the deeply offended or abused etc. by "christians" feel. I think "christians" need to do less preaching (they've already got that down pat) and more loving and showing what they preach in tangable ways. This way they can share their faith and get the message out, without seeming like they are judging, overbearing or pushy. I think alot more people, when they sence this sincerity and love... will come to Jesus, on their OWN.
*Also, before I knew any christians... I became one on my own because of influence from christian music and books. I thank G-d for that, because if I was approached with the way I see other people approached, I would probably not have converted so easily...... sorry, christians.

Christians need more tolerance for people on other paths, in my opinion. I understand the desire to have kinship with others and the desire to save others from a perceived fate - but we all have free will and we are not all here to serve a Christian God. Particularly in America this is a problem - and it sometimes seems to stem from the desire to make America a Christian Nation.
The greatness of America is the team effort made possible from folks of all faiths, nationalities and walks of life. We would all do better to keep religion in our homes and hearts and churches and out of other people's business and lives.
Oddly, I know that some Christians feel that a live and let live attitude toward others is a threat to their culture and that always surprises me. I wish nothing but the best for Christianity - live long an prosper, really! I know lots of Christians that I quite like a lot. I just don't see how anyone thinks they have a right to push their religion onto another.
Peace!

Brains. Christians do dumb things like say that a book full of conflicting statements has no contradictions, and that their religion is the only one that matters, everyone else is going to hell. They tell us how loving their god is, when their holy book clearly shows god killing everyone in a flood, setting up a special place of eternal torture for others, and ordering the execution of women, children, and livestock so his followers can have the virgins and inhabit the land. And on top of all that, they say that 'I' have no morals, because I don't see any reason to believe in their deity.
That is the only information they have on me. They don't know what I do for a living, if I have a family, how I treat my friends, family, and neighbors, or whether or not I've ever committed any crimes. But for some reason, the fact that I don't share their view of their deity, that means I don't have any morals.
I think dropping the assumptions and learning to live and let live would be a start. Looking into their own religious history from an objective perspective would be even better. Stopping the spread of their disdain for scholarly and scientific research would be ideal.

The problem today is:
so many musicians, ministers, churches, christians, etc:believe they need to compromise with the ways of the world to reach people (if they would look around they would notice compromise hasn't worked).
Jesus taught the way, the truth and the life no man comes to the Father but by Him.
An old saying (if something works don't fix it).
The Gospel of Jesus is the only way to salvation:
(no man or group, etc. can turn peoples hearts without Jesus' shed blood for the redemption of sin)
I realize some won't like this answer.

They could learn the difference between "affective" and "effective".
I also think that here, at least, the biggest change that Christians need to make is to stop lying about nonbelievers. We do not believe in god simply because there is no evidence that gods exist. Yet over and over again Christians insist that people "reject God" because "they don't want to be held responsible for their actions". That's simply a lie, and all of that lying reflects very badly on Christianity.

christianity is the only religion that prosthelytizes. based upon lie after lie, its brainwashed hundreds of millions of individuals into believing absolute nonsense. its been the basis of many wars and has been used to slaughter otherwise peaceful civilizations. fortunately, people are much more educated in todays society and statistics show more people are turning away from it. unfortunately, christian colleges are still out there teaching nonsense and fiction.
to answer your original question, christians need to read something besides a bible or religious based text to educate themselves.

Stop repressing themselves. When they do that, everything blows up and they do something really perverted. Also, they should be more like the Mormons and have a "live and let live" philosophy. Also, they should stop hating. It isn't Christian-like.
And most importantly, they should get out of politics.

Yes. I don't really care how they choose to live their lives as long as they aren't hurting anybody else. I am highly offended when they come up to me and tell me I am doomed unless I follow their advice.
I was at Disneyland last week standing in line for Space Mountain and a women in front of me turned around, handed me a pamplet and told me that she could tell that I needed this.

.Practice what they preach would be one big step. Loving can mean to admonish at times but I don't think that was meant to be used on unbelievers but rather among ourselves to keep each other accountable. I can not think of any instances where Jesus admonished but among the Pharisees and Sadducee's. He realized that people had to see He was different and want what He had to give them. Battering people only drives them further from Him. their hearts shut in defense and the harder you pound on them the harder their hearts get.
