Until you request them be sent to your new physician, they will remain at that practice if another physician has bought it (or if he was partnered with other physicians), in some cases, they will be sent to some sort of storage facility if no one is taking over the practice. The primary hospital with which the physician was afiliated should know that information (lord knows I got plenty of calls related to that when I worked in a medical staff office in a different hospital).

Whatever doctor "inherits" the patient, gets the medical records.

The office of the deceased doctor has you sign a consent form for you to pick up your file or transfer it to a new doctor of your choice.

Hiya, The practice manager has the duty to keep all the records safe, until another doc is appointed or you move to another practice
