In Dec, we purchased a house that had been foreclosed on. We have no clue where the previous owner went.

It appears that he also defaulted on his car payment and someone is trying to repossess it. Every few weeks, we find a notice taped on our front door, demanding that "M*** P*****" turn over his 2002 Lexus. We've called the number on the notice but it goes straight to this person's VM. We've left messages explaining that M*** P***** no longer lives here and that they'd know that if they checked the real estate records. The repo man has also knocked on the door once when my DH was home and he told him the same thing.

We figured that they'd go away if we were decent to them - they are, after all, only trying to do their job. I'm tired of being decent. I just want them to go away!

Thanks!

call your local police department and file a report.even though they are repoing a vehicle they are not allowed to be beligerent
also ask the detective to contact them and explain the situation and put a letter on the door telling them that if they don't stop harassing you you will be forced to file charges.but I would let the police handle it first that is was they are there for. hope this helps

Bill collectors are paid to do a job. AND if they listened to every "oh they moved...." message, they'd never get anything done. They are simply being tenacious. However, you DO have a right to NOT be harrassed by these people.

Call the police. Explain the problem to them. They may or may not be able to do anything, but having made a police report puts you in line for the next step,. Suing them for pain and sufering.

Last step, call a lawyer, and have them contact the bad guys.

Contact your local police and have them ready the next time they show up. If they continue after that themn you go to court and file a harrassment suit against them . Good Luck

Chill. They are just doing their job, don't let it raise your blood pressure. Take the notes off the door and throw them away, if they show in person tell them "Sorry, no one by that name lives here. We just recently bought the house." Eventually it will stop.

The repossession agent has to go by the information he has available to him, and that is your address.
