Save the spiritual store in your body by observing Continence.

Complete continence gives great intellectual and spiritual power.

Mahatma Gandhi said " I can confirm without the slightest hestitaion from my own experience as well as that of others that sexual enjoyment is not only not necessary for, but is positively injurios to health. All the strength of body and mind that has taken long to acquire is lost all at once by a single dissipation of the vital energy".

Jesus Said:- " Do not commit adultery, It is much better for you to lose a part of your body tahn to have whole body thrown into hell".

"Continence" is one's ability to control urination. "Abstinence" is refraining from sexual intercourse, which seems to be the focus of your question.

"Abstinence" and "refraining from adultery" are not the same thing. Abstinence is the complete lack of sexual activity. Refraining from adultery means you should not sleep around on your spouse (or someone else's spouse).

Furthermore, Jesus was Jewish as well as being the first Christian. Gandhi was a Hindu. The Judeao-Christian belief system and the Hindu belief system have vastly different teachings about the very nature of physical existence, what happens when we die, and why one should abstain from sex (and with whom - for various reasons).

Follow the teachings of your religion. Respect the wisdom of persons from other religions, but do not mix the two.

There are many eastern religions that suggest one should, instead, channel their sexual energy to their spirit thereby affording them an opportunity for enlightenment that most waste on superficial, bodily pleasures.

There may be some truth to this, however, the Scriptures are clear that if vowing to remain celibate becomes a stumbling block for you, then it is better to go ahead and marry than to sin in avoidance of marriage.

We read: "But if a man and a woman, for the short time left, cannot contain their sexual desire, "let them marry," says Paul, "for it is better to marry than to burn" (1 Cor. 7:9). He also counsels married couples to "come together" regularly, except for any agreed periodic abstentions, to avoid extramarital temptation (1 Cor. 7:2-5).

One must also remember that God honors marriage and there is wonderful enlightenment to be obtained within a Godly marriage that a celibate person will not ever come to understand except perhaps through a certain level of empathy.

God has made provision to know Him through both. And God uses both to serve in His Kingdom, the celibate and the married.

The best ways to preserve continence are to do Kegel exercises (women) and to get your prostate checked (men).

OK, so religious people hate sex, and are terrified by their own sexuality. We already knew that. What's your point?
