Since you asked so many questions here, I'm gonng go with the response that popped into my head while I was reading.
Several years ago, I felt like something was missing from my life. While I grew up in the Christian faith, we didn't usually attend church, except for special occasions. I decided that I was going to change my life and become a "good" Christian, read the Bible, begin attending church, etc. I was living with my husband, who was only my boyfriend at the time. We had a child together, so I didn't ask him to move out, but I did tell him that we could not have sex until we were married. I did the whole about-face thing.
This lasted for about a year. I truly felt that I was being a "good" Christian. I was doing everything that I thought I was "supposed" to do. I realized that it was unnatural for me. It just didn't feel right.
I also saw the divisions in the church (and not just one). The rich people associated with the rich people and excluded the poor people. Anyone who did not live up to the standards that they thought where important were made to feel that they did not belong there.
I learned that anyone can claim to be a true Christian, but many that do are self-righteous, judgemental and unaccepting of anyone that is different. While on my path to seek a truth I learned that I make mistakes everyday. Those mistakes are unacceptable to many within the church.
I began realizing that there are many different faiths, and every person takes comfort in their faith. How was Christianity any different that Islam? Many people believe in both and each finds comfort in it. Even those who decide to follow Pagan religions find comfort and understanding in their choice of religions.
To cut this short, yes I have read the Bible. To me it just doesn't ring true. If it is true, then it is something that I don't want to believe in. Any God that I believe in wouldn't punish, wouldn't be vengeful, wouldn't want you to HAVE to believe in him or else. It wouldn't be an all or nothing. It would be a progression of steps and each person would have their own level of understanding and be accepted for that.
I'm not a God-seeker. I'm also not here to turn anyone away from their own beliefs. To each his own I guess.

I have picked up and read the bible. It's one reason why I choose not to believe. I have also been left with a millon questions regarding the nature of the bible and why you believe what you believe.
Yes sometimes I will admit it is to have my ears tickled. As I am sure it is the same way for you if not other christians. Yes I have been left with a bad taste in my mouth. I don't disrespect the christian as a person but i guess just for what the believe. Sort of how christianity states dont hate the person hate the sin.
Sometimes I am being facicious and sometimes I really want to know the answer. The prob is that I am accused of being rude and facicious when I'm really just wanting to know the answer.
But oh well

I'm not seeking the Christian God. Personally though if I do ask a question I am honestly wanting to hear what peoples thoughts are. I don't want a quote from the bible. I want to hear from a person. I don't accept the bible as truth. I do see though that when someone takes the time to answer a question in their own words it has become their truth. That is what I find interesting.

If you look at a lot of my answers I usually use Bible verses or at least refer to them. I have learned so much by researching things in the Bible to back up my opinion. It is ultimately the Bible that might change my opinion not others and I have seen questions that seem legitamate. Sometimes the Bible is just hard to understand and I do turn to commentaries or webpages or even family and friends to help clear things up but they always have to back it up and my ultimate resource is the Bible.

I love God with all my heart and read my Bible daily. I profess the Name of Jesus above all names and believe He is the one and only Son of God. I believe He is coming again very soon and my hearts desire is to draw as close to Him as Enoch and Elijah. David was known as a man after God's own heart. To seek God is to know Him & have a close personal relationship with Him. That means I need to talk to Him daily as well as read His word. I want to make Heaven my eternal home and take as many people with me as I can.
There is no promise of tomorrow, so knowing God today...right now, is what matters. He was, He is, He will always be #1 in my life. May God bless you all.

ive already read the bible friend, christainism hasnt left a bad taste, they just dont give proof, when you always hear "god told me so" or "its in the bible" or "you just need faith" then does that really sound so good? if you could give real facts that arent the same as everyone elses nonesense ill listen, but untill true facts are shown to me, ill just deny it.

Your question could easily be reversed and applied to the Christians in here, in reference to how they conduct themselves towards atheists.

i understand your frustration. the way i deal with it is to not answer unless i feel they really are interested, and i have something to say (in love, with grace) that think will help. just remember that everyone- EVERYONE- has the same problem...we all just need Jesus. :)
