Check it out for texture and smell before you eat it. One week is a good rule of thumb in general for leftovers :)

You should never leave anything more than 3 days. If you keep it in the fridge longer than 3 days and eat it, you will surely get ill maybe even poisoned. The best thing to do is get rid of the portion you don't eat. It's not healthy to eat leftovers much less reheat food.

I follow the three day rule for fresh and then freeze or treat the dogs.

you can freeze the sauce for 3-6 months, it will defrost and taste just as good!
