The little box that the officer filled out, refers to the year of expiry on the validation sticker not the year of the vehicle, so that is not an error.
If the officer was out of his vehicle that means he got an up close and personal look that they weren't wearing seat belts. I actually think it's funny when I CLEARLY see that the belt is not on and when I pull them over it miraculously has appeared! I will ask why they weren't wearing their seat belts, if they say (batting eyelashes) "But officer! I was wearing it!" I am more likely not to reward lying with a warning. The officer will rarely pull you over if they are not sure it is on or not.
To the answerer above me (auditor): The ticket in Ontario is $110 and two points + increased insurance rates for a conviction.

Honest advice: pay it. Your husband and friend were caught "red-handed", so to speak. The fact that they tried to put it on later is just that... Too little, too late.
As long as you got the ticket in hand and the officer got the details "mostly right" the ticket is valid. Minor mistakes cannot void a ticket. Only when there's a HUGE mistake, like the driver cited was a white guy and the ticket was made out to a black guy or Asian guy who looked NOTHING like the guy being cited THEN maybe there's grounds for appeal, but a seatbelt ticket? It's a slam-dunk case, so to speak. Not worth fighting.

the officer witnessed it. Its irrelevant they put the belts on. If anything that pissed the cop off, esp if they denied ever having them off. A ticket is merely your notice to show up in court. The cops testimony is what the judge cares about. mistakes are irrelevant on a traffic ticket. that only works on parkers, where the ticket is the only evidence and the writer doesn't come to court. Its all the evidence the state has, so it must be correct. Pay it and wear your belt so you don't splatter all over the car someday

Unfortunaltely, they did notify him of the courtroom date it could have been on the fee ticket! What he could desire to of did is flow right down to the place ever you pay the fee ticket on your state. And tell them he misplaced the fee ticket they could desire to of had his call interior the computing device telling him how lots the fee ticket became into and whilst he had to pay it via etc. Now, because he didnt pay it or flow to courtroom then definite they could concern a warrant for his arrest. For failure to seem in courtroom. All you're able to do approximately it fairly is basically tell the decide your tale tell him/her which you tried calling the courts, clerks, pd, etc. good success

Simple. It is very foolish and very childish not to wear your seatbelt. Excuses don't count.
