I've wanted to write a Christian teen devotional for a little while, but I know I want to do it soon, for the simple fact that I'm a Christian teen. All these devotionals written for us are written by adults and they just dont understand EXACTLY what we go through. I'm writing chapter by chapter(out of order) each chapter displays an experience I've gone through and I'm sure a lot of teens have gone through. And I feel I have a good perspective on it because I am 15 and a Pastors daughter. Does this sound like a good idea?

But adults really dont know exactly what we go through. Sure you went through similar stuff, but the times change so quickly. Sure adults understand but they think are problems are so trivial, which they are compared to the rest of the worlds problems, but a lot of teens dont like to think that. Teens not only want someone who understands but someone who can relate right now.

I say yes, because yes it's true adults can look at it with perspective because they've been through that phase in their lives, but the people you are writing for are living it NOW just as you are. I think it's a very good way to connect and relate. Go for it!

I'd still run it by an adult. AFTER you've written it.
One thing that adults have that teenagers don't (even mature PKs like yourself) is perspective. An adult can look back at what seemed like major trauma at the time and say "that could have been handled better if I had just . . . . "
So write it (and good luck) then run it by an adult who's judgment you trust and see if they have anything to add. (You might even do a "I say/Grownups say" format.)
Good luck. It sounds like a great idea.

I hate it when a teen says, "Adults don't know what we go through." You think we were never teenagers? With our own parents/adults pushing us in different directions!?!
You wait 10 years and then try to give advice to a 15 year old - Seriously...see if they don't repeat what you've just said word for word. I'm only 25 and yes, I can still recall high school.

It would be far better if you discard that lame pamphlet you call the Bible and start reading more serious books from reputable authors, not that lame and baseless fable.
