Is headed on a downward spiral when it comes to the ever changing climate that is verifiably affecting plant life, animal life
and our global economy. As the population grows the food shortages increases, what we have to look forward to is dismal when it comes to our daily exsistence by what is happening with power of nature...

Along with that scenario is the continuance threat of Nuclear War in the Middle East and declining moral values and intolerance of every kind increasing..

For people who believe GOD is in total control we look forward to the day of Jesus's return.

If you don't believe this, how do you see the world getting better? and do you trust your government to tell you the truth regarding every issue that will affect your life?

Anyone who trusts the government is an idiot.

Personally I don't see the world getting any better no matter what we do - because there is simply too much vested interest in keeping the status quo. And neither should you. God has let us suffer since time began - why's he suddenly going to stop it because our existence is getting that much more miserable? He let the black death happen didn't he?

Well, let's see, has the world really gotten worse in the last hundred years? Smallpox is gone, and so is polio; I just returned from a trip across the country, of which the travel required less than a day; I am typing this on a computer, from which it will be almost instantly be transmitted all over the world; I can afford to live in a large house, and do so; what's not to like? Once we get rid of religion, and have everyone thinking rationally instead of believing superstitious nonsense, we can do what we have always done in perhaps a less haphazard manner than before: apply real intelligence toward dealing with the world's problems, and actually solving some of them. Now, a question in return: of all the items of progress that I have named, in how many of these (or any other such) is there evidence that god, or even a belief in god, had a useful part in it?

First you begin your statement with a false assumption. There is no agreement within the scientific community, the religious communities or between the two. You are expressing Malthusian economics which has shown to be false. But lets look at the rest of your statement. There is no "power of nature" and no real evidence there is a decline of moral values. In the time of Christ there was crime: murder, rape, incest, prostitution etc. Probably greater as a % than today.
God on the other hand is not in "total control" as you suggest it. God provides for the free will of men whether they are religious or not. God does not determine if you will drive a polluting car or walk, you do. Nor is there a vast government conspiracy about pollution crime.
While we look forward to the return of Christ, it does not absolve us of our responsibilities here. You need to become familiar with the whole truth. The truth will set you free.

The population of the Earth will continue to increase to about 9 billion, then there will be a great collapse with billions of people dying within a year, famine, disease, war will devastate the planet. Within ten years the population will be reduced to several hundred million as technology and industry collapse due to the loss of populations, pestilence will continue for many years, after another twenty of so years the remaining humans will only number in the thousands, the survivors will be those who have learned how to survive at the most primitive level. They will tell stories of flying machines, magic boxed with moving pictures in them, and lights that didn't need fire. The Earth's ecology will still be going downhill and these few last humans will only last another 50 years until the last of them dies. And then the human race will be extinct.

Rubbish.

Climate change is an ongoing problem, however one wonders how much is due to global warming and how much to cyclical climate change. In any event it's reversible.

Food shortages are far less than they were. We have the capacity to feed everyone on the planet several times over but don't due to greed and stupidity. As for population, perhaps if the people of the world used contraception - as opposed to being told by their religions not to - this wouldn't be such an issue.

We have had the power to destroy each other in a nuclear fireball for over sixty years. We haven't. That should tell you something.

As for morals, slavery is illegal, women have the vote, homosexuality is no longer a crime, women can own property and it is illegal to discriminate on grounds of race, creed or sex. I'd say that's a step forward.

If God is in total control then he's doing a pretty poor job. Perhaps we should fire his *** and get someone in who knows what they're doing?

The world is getting better: Your lifespan is about one and half times what it was 100 years ago. Disease is less likely to kill you. If you haven't got a job you can be supported. You have free education. You have freedom of religion. Less people die in stupid wars.

It's a fact. Deal with it.

Ok, instead of praying for the world to end, your cult can help by building indoor farms that can grow food no matter what the weather does. I guess you can shrug and say, 'it's in God's hands' and go back to praying for the world to end, but that doesn't help anyone, including your children or grand-children. The climate is going to change. We can't stop that. We CAN build indoor farm/labs to grow the food our nation needs. Why don't we do that first?

I do not trust my government to tell the truth (or the whole truth). I do believe that we can, as individuals, take action to save this planet...if its not too late. We need to stop guzzling gas and support development of alternative fuel transportation, most likely of which is hydrogen. We need to support alternative methods of producing electricity such as wind farms. We need to be aware of our own consumption of energy robbing products...turn off lights, use low energy consuming lighting, turn up the air conditioner and down the heater, turn off lights, turn your computer OFF when you are not going to be online. A little can make a big difference.

But, if Jesus comes, that is just alright with me too.

The world is getting better - but our perception of things is getting worse.

By most objective standards of measure, we are on average living longer, less violent, better quality and usually healthier (albeit fatter) lives in an improving (not worsening) environment ... but the media and others making a living from fear mongering won't have any of it.

It's the religious who actually say things like "why worry about the global warming when the Rapture is coming?"

It requires a true commitment to secularism to actually be able to say, "Hey, God's not gonna clean this up - we had better".

I have enough belief in Humanity to think that, sooner or later, we'll take off religion's blinkers and actually see what a mess we've made of the world.

Maybe, just maybe, it won't happen too late...

The reason we are facing global warming, is from human arrogance. That the world is here for us a, dogma preached by most religions.
