Um.... give it a month or so? One date is waaaay too early to be discussing long term anythings. When you've been dating for a month or so, you should have a better idea of how to approach such a topic with him. But sometimes the best way is just to ask.

'Hey... I'm wondering how compatible our long-term relationship goals are. What do you want for yourself a year down the line?'

I have recently been in this question answer section of yahoo I find it interesting. One thing however I find a lot of women asking “if my b/f or husband say” what does he mean I will tell you EXACTLY WHAT HE SAID. Men tend to speak literally and women emotionally and your question is really how can I avoid saying what I mean but expect a literal answer. So hey its a no lose situation on your part don’t REALY ask but can expect anything. Try this just ask exactly what you what him to respond to. (PERIOD)

dont... dont try to be "not so blunt" just ask him straight up... me, being a guy, i would perfer her to ask me straight up like that... but it has to be in the right place at the right time... you wont ask him at like the mall while you're trying on a dress or sumthin you know... but yea you could possibly think about that aspect of the situation... =)

It's to early to ask.
Wait and see if you like him,
then ask. You have the right to know.
