Has anyone ever used these? Are they reliable? I am planning on getting a few for my windows at home. We live on the third floor of an apartment building and I just don't feel my daughter is safe (she's 2). Just asking for your reviews on these things. Is there a certain kind I should get...and so on. Thanks!!

Do your windows open side to side or up and down? I had guards on side to side windows in a second story apartment I used to live in. They worked really well, the window could only open a few inches and then stopped. I don't have any experience with the up down kind, but I have an idea for something that would work. You can go to Walmart and get those alarms that sound when the magnetic force is broken. Then open the window to the height you don't want it to go past and set the alarm to set if that distance is broken (just turn it off when you want the window closed.

I can't recommend a brand because the ones I had on my windows were a built in part of the window, but I'm sure that if you go to Home Depot or Lowes those guys can help you with exactly what you need.
