They are deductible by the estate on the Estate Tax Return and will reduce the taxable value of the estate. The are NOT deductible on any individual income tax return, including the decedent's final return.

if you didn't have life insurance and everything was paid out of pocket then yes, its a medical expense. if you did have life insurance so the funeral was paid thru that then you can claim your premiums that were paid every month for that year.for having the life insurance.
