I've just seen some people here posting that it's better to be a Catholic pastor because there are not family problems. This reminded me that a Catholic Priest stole my wife. To make matters worse, he is still practising as a priest despite the higher church authoroties knowing about it. My estranged wife is a Catholic and she always met with this "father" for "spiritual upliftment". What hurt me most is that I never met the guy, until my wife ensured that we met. Hardly a month later, the truth was out. After I knew about it, she had the gall to want to spend nights in my house with the guy whe I was away on work assignments. I had just taken a bond of $40k to buy the house. This is my true story - No jokes about it! So, is that what Catholicism is about?

You wrote this a couple of months back. There are wolves dressed in sheep's clothing, within all the flocks. You aren't the only one who has been effected by one. Sorry.

That demonstrates the Vatican's error in doctrine. While the Bible says that celibacy can lead one closer to God, it does not suggest that leaders of the church must, by law, remain celibate. Not every one can handle celibacy in this day and age and it is the main reason that you see such deplorable behaviour from some Catholic clerics. While I sympathize with you, I can't help but think of the unfortunate choice your wife made. Not only having committed adultery but with a priest of all people. The priest should be shown the door as this behaviour is unacceptable from a leader of a church and should not be tolerated by the congregation. Hope things work out for you friend.

It's difficult to believe that this is true when you say you just remembered it.

If one's wife is, as you say "stolen" by a priest, one remembers it at all times of the day.

No. This is not what Catholicism is about. I don't understand peoples' need to generalize. To blame everyone for the mistakes of one person.

Should we not allow people to have children because a handful of parents are abusers? Should we not allow education because a handful of teachers are abusers?

People have faults. If we expected our priests to be super-human then we would indeed be the idolaters our Protestant cousins accuse us of being.

No, this is NOT what Catholicism is all about. This is what Catholicism is NOT about.

I seriously doubt that the higher up church authorities know about this. What is the name of the priest and what parish is he at?

Absolutely not it is what human weakness is all about.
I am sorry for you I am sure it is very difficult. Men in the Church need to be reformed then and now. Remember it is not the church herself that is deformed it is the human person

The only consulation is ... one day he will have to face his sins in front of God.
I hope you changed the locks on your house.
