Many people do not believe in God, as a Higher Being. They might not believe that God even exists. Just as many bibles are interpreted differently, many religions have varied interpretations of God. However, most formal religions, are based on a very strong belief, that God exists, that God watches over us, and that our prayers are heard by God. There are some people however, who are not following any formal religion, yet still feel the need to believe in a Higher Being to talk to in their thoughts, or by words, and that 'their God' watches over them. God takes many shapes and many forms, but your belief can be as you see him, and not as others say he is. He then becomes a God, created by an individual, for that individual for comfort, guidance, and peace. Thus, they no longer feel alone-as the God they created walks with them!
Steps
1. Feel pain or joy, not necessarily in your body, but in your heart. The pain can come from various sources, death of a beloved one, loss of a job, financial ruin, or divorce. The joy can come from finding love, reaching a goal or discovering a new talent or gift.
2. Find it difficult to look forward to each day, without thinking of what you had, and lost. Lost not to your choosing, but taken away from you.
3. Find it impossible to not look forward to each day because of the incredible opportunities you have been given, the beauty all around you, the magic you see in all aspects of nature and life.
4. Look around you. Your home, your car, your health are all intact. Your tears have become less, or your joys have become greater, but you have a need for someone to listen, just not 'hear' your pain or share your accomplishments. You walk alone, but do not now want to be alone. You are healing, but you need someone to help you heal the loneliness you feel, or share the magic you see.
5. Walk into a Church/ Synagogue/Mosque/Zendon/Ashram. Any faith, any denomination and attend a service. You are not looking to join a congregation, or learn the beliefs or any specific religion, you are just looking for an inward feeling. I can compare it to sitting in a hospital Prayer Room. You sit alone with your thoughts, and pray. Your prayers are not of a religious nature, but just a release of your feelings. You are praying to God, a God you may believe is of your making, but who has always been and always will be -- not as described by any particular religion or scripture.
6. Listen to what is said. If it makes you feel as if you have found what you have been looking for, you will feel a stirring within you. Something has happened. You suddenly feel less alone, and less helpless .
7. Walk away and look up at the sky. You have found God, and feel the warmth within you, as never before. You have found Faith, and life has a new meaning to you. Say, "thank you God", for your faith will now guide you. You no longer feel alone. You feel that if you need help and if you ever get 'down' , you have someone to talk to, and guide you. And when you experience the incredible joy of life, you will now be aware of the power that has given you that gift.
Tips
* If a loved one dies, and you ask "why"...'why did they die', "why was I left alone", do not give up asking. A reason will be shown to you in time. When God determines you are ready to hear the answer the answer will be revealed.
* Do not give up your Faith, because something else comes along and knocks you down. God had a reason for that also.
* Everything in life, every path you take, you have taken for a reason. Write it down, and follow the path. Then one day , read that book, and track that path you took, and understand how the first path, led to the last path.
* Have Faith. Do not give up. Believe, and you will not ever be alone. You do not have to believe or join any particular religion to have faith.
* The belief you have formed in Faith, and in a Higher Power than you, does not just happen. You do not wake up one morning, brush your teeth, and say, "today I am going to believe in God. Today I am going to have Faith". Something has to happen for you to need and and for you to trust for you to seek out that Faith.
* When You find Faith, hold on to it tightly, do not allow it to leave, do not stop believing. One day you will understand the feeling, 'that you have a purpose in life', and you will find that purpose, when you least expect it.
* This article applies only to a conventional, personal God and presupposes His existence. Different faiths may profess different notions of God.
* Remember: There is no god but God, and Jesus is His Son.
