No boxer in history has the record of Sugar Ray Robinson, nor the talent he fought against. 85-0 as an amateur, he also went on to 202 total fights, 175 wins, 108 wins by knockout.

Hands down, the man. Even Muhammad Ali verified "I consider myself the best heavyweight of all time, but the best BOXER of all time was Sugar Ray Robinson". Its in his interview with ABC.

And I have to disagree...although Jack Johnson was terrified of Sam Langford, at 5'7 and 185...he wouldnt beat half the club heavyweights out now...he would just be too small.

The answer is Sugar Ray Robinson. If you ask anybody that knows anything about boxing(not the fools that regularly post on here and say names like Mike Tyson and Rocky Marciano) they will tell you that. Pound-for-pound the best ever is Ray Robinson, while Ali is the best Heavyweight ever.

Jason, Ali beat ALL the best HW's of his era, and his era was the best era of HW's in boxing history. Maybe you should have at least SOME boxing knowledge before you try to talk about it, otherwise you look like a 10 year-old unknowledgable prick.

ADDLED, Kieran27 & mowglieboy know their boxing, all get a thumbs up from the blogbaba.

Sugar Ray Robinson was the greatest boxer of all time.

Ali was the greatest heavyweight, and even he gives Ray the nod.

Hands down Robinson. Ali was great and all, but the best was in his charisma, not his boxing.
