If it is the so called "will of god" that you come down with, say, cancer, then who are you to interfere with god's plan and will?

If only god can decide when it is time for you to 'go home to the kingdome of heaven' then why would you circumvent his decision to take you with cancer, or a bad heart or something?Aren't you cheating god's will and plan that way? Aren't you cheating god altogether?

(I can't wait for the answers on this one!)

What if its God's will that we go to the Doctors and Medical experts He gave us? Are you so arrogant you think you know God's will better than any one else?

It is obvious that you are trolling for some way to mock something you dont understand, I.E Christianity. Instead of wasting your efforts on these feeble attempts at bashing, you should look into the whole thing with an open mind. Warning: An open-minded athiest cannot long remain both.

"Why" questions pop up like weeds in a garden. Why don't you focus on "how" questions. How are you going to get through this, or how can I learn from this and grow from this experience.

Anyway, we accept medical care and surgeries the same reason other people do, to get well. God works through man and he has his reasons. All knowledge about medicine and the plants/herbs used to make them was given to man by God, we just get to figure it out. That is why he gave us intelligence.

We live in a world that we were suppose to take care of and cancer I believe is caused by air pollution (man did it), chemicals in our water system (man did it), etc. etc. etc. Don't forget how we don't take care of our bodies by drinking to much alcohol, eating till you don't know when to stop, and not exercising because you are eating snacks with chemicals (man did it) watching TV. Don't blame God, he told you how to take care of yourself in order to stay healthy. As for those born with health problems, these things just happen because it is not a perfect world.

My mother is a christian woman and a breast cancer survivor. What cause her cancer, we don't know. She had weeks of radiation. . .everyday. Because of her early detection she had great odds and I am so thankful to say she is cancer free. She thanks God for the people who were involved in her treatment, not only for the treatment but their kindness to her. Her faith never waiverd, she never had the poor me pity party. Since her cancer her life has changed. She is graduating from college in one week!!!! She did this while working full time. God is a good God. Although we are human and we too have to deal with things of this world, we are not alone and that is the difference. We do not carry our burdens alone. And, the bad things we go through can turn and work for our good. I praise God today and everyday for His faithfulness.

I can't speak for everyone, but in St. John's Gospel, Christ is called the Word. In Greek this is the Logos, and it means also reason, revelation, story, command, statement, etc. Anywhere men use reason for the good of other men, they are tapping into the Logos, and the truth they use is Christ's truth.

Thus, for me, God has provided a natural means to deal with illnesses, and when doctors heal, they use the truth of God to do it just as much as if I pray for it. If it is God's will I not get well, then I won't by any method, but if I refuse to act, then I cannot expect God to save me any more than He would if I jumped in front of a semi. He, INSHO, expects us to avail ourselves of all rational and moral means He has made available.

I'll just say that when God created Adam and Eve, they were perfect and in no way could have even gotten "cancer, or a bad heart or something" - he created them to be able to live forever. (we know this because their punishment for sinning was death)
It was not God's original purpose, or will for anyone to die. Death occurs because of human error and imperfection.

For your statement to even be considerable, one would have to believe that God invented/created cancer and bad hearts - and that God has predestined each of us. I don't believe either of those things to be true. Besides - if it's God's will that anything that specific happen, who are we to even be capable of interfering?

What if it's God's will that I get medical care? Then why would I try to NOT accept His will? In other words, God never says we should not take care of ourselves or get healed. He simply says to trust in Him. He never says it is His will that we get sick or hurt, it is His will that we glorify Him through any and all situations that we create for ourselves! I don't believe that God has an exact time planned for each of us. I believe God knows that time and makes sure there is some good in all situations to help make up for our lack of it.

I hope this answer is what you were waiting for and helps put some perspective from a Christian who accepts all gifts from God - including medication! Be blessed!

I believe that God gave us the science and medication to heal, and when I am sick I take advantage of all that God has given us to try and get better. When those things fail, in spite of everything, then it will be my time to go.

Mark 11:18-19 "And when the scribes and cheif priests heard it and sought how they might destroy Him; for they feared Him, because all people were astonished at His teaching. When evening had come, He went out of the city."

Even Jesus escaped when He knew they were trying to kill Him. There is nothing wrong with trying to "save" your own life, but when it came down to it Jesus knew when His time on earth was done and He faced it.

Addition: KryptonOne- Why would i want to stay here on earth instead of in Heaven for now? For ym 3 yr old son's sake. If a bullet was coming at me would I have fear? YES, I would fear for my son having to live life without me, and for missing his life. Do I ultimately want to live in Heaven with God? YES YES a thousand times YES..but I also want to live this life on Earth with my family.

Why do we lift a hand to feed ourselves ? God wouldn't let
us starve -- would he ?
Why are Doctors./researches given knowledge in the medical
field to cure disease ? -- maybe to help "feed" ourself?
We cannot circumvent God's decision, but we can/should
use the resources he's provided to make our lives on this
earth a little more comfortable.

The Scripture says, "Physician, heal thyself". It means that God will give you certain knowledge on how to take care of your bodies. But, no matter what one does, when it's your time to go, there will be no amount of doctoring and surgery that will prevent God from taking you.

First God gave me this body which is a temple as Jesus resides in me. If I have cancer who am I to say that God does not have some future plan for me that requires this suffering. What blessing am I missing by not giving God a chance to allow my body to heal. We are not to test God. God has numbered our days but that does not mean we shouldn't use a seatbelt because it might change those days. all things work together for good to them that are called according to his purpose. Jesus could have cured Lazarus but he chose to allow greater suffering to bring even greater glory to God. Rather than suffering to death.
