I work at a motel in Hollywood, Ca.My boss has a reputation of yelling, screaming, finding faults and firing people. Everyday I come to work in the morning he will call me up and and ask how much sales we had the day before. Right now the business is not doin well for some reason. He asks me why we are not doing well. well how am I suppose to know? Its is marketing that is not doin well. If theres no scustomers that want to come here then what should I do. He says that everything is my fault that I'm not getting enough customers in and all that.It gets worse when its the weekened which is usuallly a full night. Some times I make mistakes. Everyone makes mistakes. He yells at me for the littles mistakes i make.I hate him but i like the job. I thhink all Indians are like this.My boss is an Indian.

Look for another job! Oh Indian. Have had that experience. They are super jerks when in superior positions. I would read him the riot act and quit. Also, you may be able to sue him for harassment. Tell him that as the man in charge, no sales are his fault. He isn't attracting enough customers. Duh!
Sometimes a harsh counter attack is the best defense, show him what it feels like.

There is simply no excuse for verbal abuse. I understand some people see this as boot camp demeanor and that the stress will lead to better people. I disagree. We're not facing an enemy pointing a Soviet built AK-47. The best way to motivate someone to work harder is to show that you're part of the team there and that you share in the stress of the business not performing well. If you're getting yelled at for simple mistakes that everyone can make, I would say stand your ground. If he threatens to fire you, threaten to quite yourself. Most bullies are insecure. That's why they have to be bullies because when it comes down to it, they don't know if they can really compare to everyone else. Threaten to quit, and even quit if it comes to it. See if your boss can run an business by themselves if they feel so superior to everyone else.

That last bit made me laugh. I'm sure his being Indian has nothing to do with this. Your boss might be stressed out with his own work so he wants you to help make it easier. I'm sure you work very hard and all and you should tell him how you feel. If you are a working hard and you are a valueable employee there is no way a sane boss would fire you. He needs you or he would not have hired you. Tell him exactly what you said here. There are no customers coming in. Suggest ideas to him to fix this such as trying new advertisements. He will [probably] appreciate your help in addition to simply telling him the reason business isn't raking in cash.

Submission is the best attitude. It won't kill you. Ask him what you can do to help business. Be humble and don't fight with him.
