I have 2 that are favorites.
"Blessed Assurance", this was one of my former pastor's favorite songs. He has passed away but his message and his love lives on.
"Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus", simply because that is the song of my life.
I recently was able to play the piano in my new church, the first time I had played in years. I got to pick which hymns we were going to sing. . .I played both of these. :)
A lot of churches have went strictly to the praise and worship songs and they are wonderful, but there is nothing like the hymns.. . they have been sung by generations of people before us. :)

I had a dream of a childs hymn. And I played it on a childs keyboard, as a teen in my dream.
I had two obvious wounds on my face & flesh eating going on. I wondered what was wrong with my face, then saw this childs box & played a childs Christian hymn.
Then others from my friends church were in the other room. And one sang the words to the song I played.
I asked God about this dream. Why my face had those horrible wounds. God told me that those were curses that were spoken of me (from the teen group from the church). And the person in the other room of the group knew my spirit in the song & sang the words to it. It was her hearts prayer too. She was agreeing with me in prayer song.
I couldn't remember the song I knew in my spirit. Then when sounding it to my brother in law, he knew it was, "Away in a Manger". I thought it was close. The reality is that she sang the 3rd verse of the song. And I remembered the first verses.
I looked up 'Away in a Manger' in my old hymn book. It was "Away in a Manger'. So, that is my favorite hymn right now.
The words of the 2b, 3rd verse are, "...I love Thee, Lord Jesus! Look down from the sky, And stay by my cradle, Till morning is nigh. Be near me, Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay Close by me forever, And love me, I pray; Bless all the dear children In Thy tender care, And take us to heaven, To live with Thee there.

There is a lot of beautiful Spiritual Songs That I LIKE, and get BLESSED ! > ( When I hear them!) I Believe GOD loves them all,, If they are about HIM and THE BLOOD OF JESUS. (You don't hear these anointed Hymns in many churches anymore) A lot of people got Saved while listening to ONE. My Favorite is: "Just As I Am! " The Billy Graham Theme SONG.>>(Brings many people to Jesus, by Convicting them of their Sins.)

These are not hymns but they're christian songs. I guess you'd call them contemporary.
THE ALTER by Ray Boltz (you don't have to carry those burdens anymore. The time has come to give them to the Lord. That's what this alter is for)
DEPART (I don't know who sings this one.)
(Just give the Lord your broken heart and you will ever hear the word Depart)
