I can understand Christians or Muslims or people of any other religion being offended if something is said against them, if they feel an inaccurate statement has been said about their beliefs, et cetera. But why do people make arguments by saying, "This offends God?" Wouldn't it really offend an all-knowing, all-powerful God to think you know what he thinks?

As a Pagan, I have more respect for people who say, "This offends me as a Christian" rather than "This offends God." It just makes more sense and sounds more honest to me.

I agree with you. I think it's humans that are too touchy not God. An all powerful God can defend himself and doesn't get as easily aggravated as people think. As a Christian, I see a merciful God and think it is people who are offended, not an uptight God, sitting up in the sky with a box of kleenex in his lap.

Great answer...the answer below mine....people are projecting the image THEY think....

As Pagans we know that God cannot be offended. Why do people make Him out to be as small minded as they are? How arrogant to assume that you are able to offend the Creator of countless universes! We are each an individuation of Him/Her and He/She experiences life through us. Try to see the bigger picture! Yes, I think Christians are much more likely to be offended than God is and I don't mean that disrespectfully. Just want to give you all a good shaking! Lol!

Because God Himself has commanded us to respect His very Name. I believe Him. it literally makes me cringe inside, when I hear His Name used in vain. I know it offends Him because He says so. It offends us both. His Name is Holy. It demands reverence. You don't have to believe that, but, it doesn't change what He says. All we say is to respect us, you have to respect our belief in a Holy God that demands respect. We know what He thinks concerning this because He has told us, silly. We're not reading His mind. I pray you may come to know God in a personal way, yourself......or at least understand the wonderful relationship a Christian has with God. May I suggest the reason you don't like the fact that it offends God is because you cannot recognize God as existing in the first place. To practice not offending Someone you don't believe in has to rub you the wrong way....and I understand that. So, any offense I take, I forgive without being asked......and God wants me to be slow to take offense anyway.....so it's all ok in the end, but I would bring it to your attention.

not only that, but if it's someone who isn't the same religion, then why would that person care if it offends a god they deem to not even be something real? i agree, as a pagan, if someone said that i offended them as a christian, i would be sorry for what i had said or done. but if they said it offends their god, i don't think i would feel the same.

Its because we truly love Him and dont like Him being bad mouthed or put down. If you had a best friend and somebody was always slandering him her would you not get upset and annoyed. Imgine if that friend then was the Almighty one surely you would stick up for Him

If any woman is indignant via Santa asserting ho ho ho they might desire to be medicated and carted off in a white jacket until eventually the trip journeys are over. I cant have faith that any one would be indignant via some thing that extra them exhilaration whilst they have been babies. Dont punish the babies purely considering you haven't any longer any ordinary experience.

Sometimes it is presumptuousness. On other accounts they have what they believe is divine revelation that specifies these things. Remember, in Christianity and Islam (and a few other religions), God is personal, and we believe we have some personal knowledge of Him, and that is where some of it comes from.

Because theists project the qualities they think correct unto their image of god.

They think they are God, hence the arrogance.
