Yes, it's too soon. You have to wait until he is at least 2.

Is your child climbing out of the crib? If he/she is climbing out, then definitely get a bed for the child. If not, then just consider the reasoning and your child. You know both best.
We didn't moved our older child until she was a little over two. We moved our second child out when he was 11 months because the little monkey was climbing out of the crib in the middle of the night (more safe to have him fall from a bed than a crib!!).
I absolutely agree with a guard-rail for the bed. These little guys can roll around a lot and it saves on the bumps in the night. Another option that we used - get a body pillow and lay along the side of the bed.

I do not believe its too soon. My oldest went from sleeping in her crib to sleeping in a twin size bed...the same with my youngest. My youngest is 11 months and sleeps in a twin size bed also. The only reason why we bought a twin size for our youngest girl is because she was walking at 9 months and already knew how to get out of the bed on her own.

That depends on the child. Safety is the issue. My daughter went in a toddler bed at 16 months, and a twin at 2 years. But, she slept through the night, and the rare times she gets up, she comes straight to me. It is not safe for a child of that age to be wandering the house at night while you're sleeping. If you think your child will sleep through, and wake you up when he's up, then it will be fine. It's really based on the child's habits and personalitles.

I put my son in a toddler bed when he was 1, he may ave been a little younger. He broke his crib. He would jump and rock so hard it broke. A brand new crib. I didn't want to buy another crib so I bought a todller bed. The only thing I didn't like was him being able to climb out of bed.

Not really but ask yourself this does he sleep on his own? Is he climbing out of his crib? If so then try it out My oldest son was in a toddler bed at 9 1/2 months, my youngest not until 2. So use your best judgment. Mothers always know best.

Our daughter was an AWFUL sleeper until we put her in her toddler bed on her second birthday. That night was probably the 3rd or 4th time she slept through the night in her life. I wish we had done it a year earlier.
As long as the bed is low or enclosed so falls do not pose a danger, I say go for it if you think she is ready.

No... It's not too early...some children feel like cribs are a prison... although some people are afraid of letting their children sleep in regular beds.... or toddler beds... i'm not... my son has been out his crib since he was 6 months old... he doesn't fall of the bed... and he sleeps all over it... eventually they have to and i feel that some things are less tramatic when they are younger.

You know your child best. My kids didn't go into big beds until they were 18 months old but we were given a queen-sized bed so they went into that, little chance of falling, it would have taken a week! It won't be long and your one-year-old will be climbing out of the crib, but if he/she isn't yet, don't rush it.

I think it depends on the child. My daughter was in a bed by age 1, but we had a safety rail so that she could not roll out and be hurt.

It depends on your son. If he is climbing out of the crib on his own, then a toddler bed is definitely safer. Just be prepared....he might come sauntering into your bedroom one night just when you don't want him to!
