If it was a sale by a TX dealer, DPS will assess sales tax based upon the BOS.

If it's an out-of-state dealer or a private sale, they'll assess it at the higher of BOS or the state's presumed value which is based upon the average blue book value adjusted for mileage.

The tax is assessed at 6.25% so if your BOS or presumptive value is $5,700, the tax would be $356.25
