De La hoya would still be the face of boxing. As far as your examples of when he got robbed; Mosely produced really challenging fights. I felt Mosely did win one of the two fights, there was one though, I think it was the 1st, where mosely did a lot of rabbit punching which nobody really saw. He kept hitting oscar behind the head. I think the strum fight was also very competitive. I can tell you're an oscar fan, so am I, but I also gotta give props when they are due, and Mosley and Strum fought well enough to make a case that they deserved to win. Oddly enough, Strum was later knocked out by an opponent that Oscar De La Hoya dismantled, Javier Castillejo.

He'd be making the same.

There's only so much money available in the sport. Even Lennox Lewis only made $20 million to fight (an aging) Mike Tyson. Oscar could never be a bigger draw that such a marque heavyweight fight.

Anyway, the majority of marginal boxing fans -- the type of fans who have to buy a PPV to make it really profitable -- hardly even remember De La Hoya got robbed in those fights. All they know is the big names, the names they've heard in the press.

People don't buy fights based on the guy's ring records. They buy in based on the names.

THE MARKET CAN ONLY BEAR SO MUCH. THE MONEY THAT HE IS MAKING IS ENOUGH.

ROBBERY IS COMMON IN BOXING. OSCAR HAD A WRONG STRATEGY IN THE BOUTS HE LOST, HE COASTED AT THE END.
