Because for the most part they are uneducated and only know of their own religion.
christianity, i've learned, often teaches that anything that is against christianity is the work of the devil. Basically anything or anyone who is not christian is in cahoots with the devil. I'm an atheist so i hear all the time that i'm a tool of the devil or some other such nonsense. The funny part is i'm a better person than most of them (not all) are & they tell me i'm the one who's on the same side with the devil.... simply because I do not believe the same things they believe.

Because those same people who associate Wicca with the devil associate ANYTHING not associated with their religion as being associated with the devil. Wicca is not alone in that respect. Also there is centuries of propaganda around that still link witchcraft to devil worship. You're just not going to get rid of centuries of propaganda overnight, it takes time.
I think the fact that the Horned God has a vague resemblance to the Christian devil might have a little something to do with it too, even though the devil doesn't look anything like that.
But anyhow, there isn't much you can do to change people's minds about it. All you can do about it is prove their perceptions of Wiccans wrong by being a good person, a better person, the kind they would aspire to be.

Well, first of all, they probably haven't even researched Wicca and it's basics. So they don't really know what Wicca is. From that concept, they bring up the assumption that it's devil worship.
I've heard Christians say that there are "certain things in Wicca that prove the concert of worshipping Lucifer, in other words the devil. They have created myths and derogatories to hide this."
This is simply not true!My question is, can Christians get any smarter and research other's beleifs?Wicca does not teach that you can be "saved", either. It teaches that if you do something bad, or good, it's gonna come back 3 times no matter what. And what about "an ye harm none,do what ye will"? That means you are free to do what YOU want, so long as it doesn't harm anyone. Anyways, why we don't believe in being "saved" is because in our religion there is nothing really to be saved from!Hope this gave some insight.
Blessed Be!

Wicca literally means wise, which is what the practitioners of this were called in the middle ages. They were generally more aware of natural healing elements and the like and did not subscribe to ignorant ideas about diseases being curses or brought by evil demons.
As in any society, anyone who lives or believes differently than the majority is looked down on or feared. The label of witch was convenient. Since there is a scripture in the Old Testament which states "Thou shall not suffer a witch to live," this label has been used to say that Wiccans are therefore evil, and most people equate this with the devil.
As far as the earlier answer, there are always practitioners who violate the rules, but no true Wiccan would have anything to do with the devil or vengeance.

People associate Wicca with the devil because witchcraft was associated with devil worship during the Burning Times/Witch Craze so more people would jump on board with the Inquisition and such. Alot of people still think that it's true, falling into old prejudices without bothering to do research on the religion.

They don't-
For the most part Christians associate anything nonChristian with the devil. They don't tend to be MORE ignorant of Wicca than any other faith they are ignorant of.
That being said, as a Wiccan, I have seen some Wiccans bring this upon themselves.

I always think wiccans practice forms of magic.
and magic is the equivalent of trying to change fate by personal intervention (especially by the use of spirits or other forces beside God) so its basically trying to take things into your own hands a.k.a acting like a god
so its very easily associated with the devil, which is known to encourage such behaviour to override the authority of the Creator
But if wiccans dont use magic in anyway, then thats fine with me.
Note: using herbs to try and cure people is NOT magic. By magic I mean trying to make that guy love you and that woman hate him etc etc etc a.k.a intervention in free will and change of events

Because it's unfamiliar, because it's not their religion (they'll literally demonize Islam and Buddhism, too), and because there was a centuries-long slander campaign against it.
If you want an idea of the roots of this, check out this website. Some Witches put the entire Malleus Maleficarum, the big Inquisition-era anti-Witch text, online, with commentary.

Christianity teaches that all religions that are not Christianity are of the devil (a Judeo-Christian figure). Paganism, which is a longtime competitor of Christianity, is an ancient target, and it is also an easy one, because pagan ways are very different from Christian ways. Judaism, for example, at least has some comprehensible similiarities.
Propaganda and misunderstanding are the tools.

Because they know nothing about Wicca. Most people who say that are simply repeating what they heard. Others believe that any religion that is different than theirs makes them with the devil.
Witchcraft isn't of the devil either. I practice and don't worship the devil. My grandmother who was a southern baptist praticed witchcraft as did the rest of her baptist family.
