I am considering getting my toddler into pageants. What is the first step, or first place I should look for information about competitions, etc?

check out the local halls. They often hold them.
I was 2.5 when I started and I loved it!

I had sponsors. Some pageants require the child to be sponsored by atleast 3 people or companies.
I was sponsored by my dads work, my moms work, my grandparents and my hair stylist.

I just think it's important to let the child know that when they're done doing pageants to let you know, because when it stops being fun for the child it needs to end.

Also yes they are competitions but they prove nothing. All little children are adorable. And I got second place my first time so I'm not being a sore loser or anything like that.

also the 2 comments above me. just disregard those. You're not being selfish. you have a beautiful child and beauty pageants can be a great way to get your family involved in society.
Also I did pageants from a young age and I do not at all hate my parents because of it. I'm grateful that they put me into them so I could experience it.

Good heavens.

I do hope you're joking.
These things are a joke an in my opinion - rob a child of their childhood. They cannot have any bruises or cuts, which we all know are a normal result of healthy childhood play.

You really need to examine who you are doing this for.
Is it for your ego or your toddler's?

Rent Little Miss Sunshine, and have her practice the dance at the end.

The first step is getting over this stage mother child fetish and doing something more valuable with your and your child's time.
