I've noticed a few questions implying that Jesus was gay, or referring to the claim that he was.
Now, I don't know what Jesus's sexuality was like; I don't think we have anything like enough evidence for most of these personal aspects of his life. But here's my question: if Jesus had been gay (entirely hypothetically), how much of a difference would it make?
Now, please don't answer to tell me he wasn't, because that's not the point. The question is hypothetical: if you were somehow presented with evidence today that proved to your satisfaction that Jesus had been more attracted to men than to women (again, try to imagine), how would that change your view of him? Would it make what you believe he taught and did any less noble? Would it make them in any way more noble?
How would it change your beliefs, whatever they are?

Mortgagegirl101, Jesus didn't say anything about homosexuality being a sin or an aberration. It was Paul who talked about that kind of stuff (as well as some Old Testamenter writers).

Bettyboop, why would asking this question about anyone be mocking them?

AMDG, I kind of know what you're saying, but I have to disagree. It's true that hypothetical questions can cause arguments, but that's not all they can do. What-if questions are also a way of getting to the heart of matters, and they can lead to great thoughts ("What if I was shaving at the speed of light...?")
I don't know if this question will produce any great discoveries or deep thoughts, but I still think it's good to ask ourselves questions like this, and look at the world and our beliefs in a new way.

I think that this question, hypothetical as it is, has bought up similar issues as to whether Jesus was married with kids.
It contradicts the teachings of the new testament, and the writers perception on his life.
Whether Jesus actually existed, was he gay, was he a black African, was he a she, is somewhat of a mute point. The real point is that any of those hypothesis would go against the grain of belief and challenge perceptions and would make a big difference to christian belief and believers.
I don't think it really matters who he actually slept with (if anyone), its the ideology that is set in stone. And the ideology was set a couple of centuries after his demise. If he came through his boots when sleeping with men, it doesn't matter. When his life was written, it was done so with a large degree of 'chinese whispers' and the need to write something that would be morally enforcable on the general population, and on other beliefs and traditions.
Blessed Be

I am still open minded about it. He was a 100%human male being. He must have had plenty of wet dreams!!! Jesus loved to have his feet extensively kissed by a prostitute in a party at a house in which prostitutes were also invited. He even expected that his male host would do the same to him. Luke 7:45 (NIV) You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered, has not stopped kissing my feet. (If this didn't give him some pleasure I don't know what else would... maybe a kiss from the male host!?) God the Son Jesus Christ was partying all the time. He became aware that he was probably overdoing it because of what "people say". Luke 7:34 (NIV) (Jesus said) "The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!" If you ever wonder where Jesus would spend the nights.... wonder no more... he had A LOT of rich women (not men) serving him and his disciples. Luke 8:1-3 NIV) After this, Jesus traveled about from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. The Twelve were with him, and also some women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out; Joanna the wife of Cuza, the manager of Herod's household; Susanna; and many others. THESE WOMEN WERE HELPING TO SUPPORT THEM OUT OF THEIR OWN MEANS. (no miracles here! or were they?) Mark 16:40-41 (NIV) Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome. In Galilee these women had followed him AND CARED FOR HIS NEEDS. Many other women* (*MANY other women... so Jesus was quite a popular good wine drinking playboy! Let's face it, God the Son Jesus Christ was just another human being like any of us, except that he knew how to be nice to the girls playing the role of God going around forgiving sins! Hey, who doesn't feel guilty anout anything?) who had come up with him to Jerusalem were also there. Jesus would not set foot in a wedding reception unless good wine was served. If they were out of wine he had a way of transforming water into wine. In fact, this is the first miracle that he performed... just to make a point! The wedding reception in those days lasted a few days. We can keep digging...

I can imagine such thing as the concept of couple, family, children and freedom we have today in the west comes directly from his teachings and everybody knows his relation with Magdalene, so I think is enough with Muslims lying and offending our good and Miracle Jesus to start this twisted, insane, pointless deviations.
I think that Jesus will not have any problem at all with gay people, Church has and until certain point there are several complications on having "active gays" priests.
And that is as further you can take it, leave our Jesus in peace and don't be silly.

I am not a religious person but I was brought up to believe we are all gods childrens and we were created equal.
IF Jesus had been gay, it would certainly put the cat amongst the pigeons with the religous factors who believe that being Gay is immoral, would that make hetrosexuals immoral if it was found out that Jesus was gay?
Gosh you could have opened a can of worms here, there are so many more questions that could be asked because of it!!

Hebrews 2:17-18 states, For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
Jesus was tempted but, He never sinned.
Ephesians 5:30-33 says, for we are members of his body (the church). "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." This is a profound mystery--but I am talking about Christ and the church. How ever, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
Marriage between 1 man and 1 woman who love each other is the picture that Christ has presented to us depicting His relationship with his bride, the church (Christians).

What an intriguing, albeit pointless, question! He DID hang around with a bunch of guys, after all, didn't he? I am not a believer, and it's amusing to read some of the answers from those who DO believe Jesus was the son of god. Like the one who said he was asexual. I wonder who told the answerer that? They believe he was a man, but would not dream of endowing him with ANYTHING that normal men would do! They do like to have their cake, and to eat it!

Its amazing how many people think that calling him gay is mocking him. How is that mocking him? Really?
Aside from who they are attracted to what is the difference between a homosexual person and a heterosexual person? Can they not be good people too?

Well, hypothetically if he was gay, his teachings on homosexuality being an aberration and horrible in the sight of God would certainly have to be rethought. But the rest of his teachings would remain unquestionable.

read the book of Leviticus. It clearly states homosexuality (from males) should be punished with death, and therefore the bible would be contradicting itself, as God would have killed Jesus to not be a hypocrite, rather than to save mankind. So, hypothetically, if Jesus was gay, God would either be a hypocrite, or the bible cannot be believed, thus proving Christianity is a false religion (i'm atheist by the way)

It wouldn't, I'm not Christian, but I think Jesus was a cool guy that had a good message. Him being gay wouldn't change his message of love and tolerance.
