No, it's more like an invitation to a party where gifts are being given away.Here's the address, and the one who is giving them out. Go to him, tell him who you are, and he will give you the gift that is specifically for you. If you follow the directions to the place where the party is, you get the gift. If you don't, the gift just sits there and collects dust. You never receive it. It doesn't mean that the gift was never given. It just means you weren't willing to follow the directions to get it. What you are talking about is the typical mentality of the typical human being. God, you haven't done enough, loving me so much by sacrificing your Son, putting Him in harm's way in my place, allowing Him to be beaten, spit on, stripped naked, crucified and buried, being willing to forgive me for His sake. That's not sufficient. I want you to make it as easy as possible for me. I just want you to drop it on me. I don't want to do anything. You should do it. Also, if He just dropped it on you, where would your freedom of choice come in. What if you didn't want the gift? Contrary to popular opinion, not everybody recognizes this gift as a good thing.

There seems to be a lot of confusion around salvation and I'm a bit worried that I might get saved accidentally and have to spend eternity with a heaven full of religious fundamentalists. I heard a priest once say that when we get to Heaven we might be surprised at who is there and who isn't. Hmmm!

Salvation can ONLY be achieved by doing this:
Create a private, personal, direct, divine Relationship with Our Creator and save your Soul from religion.
Love and Believe in Our Creator;
Love and Believe in Yourself.
Only with Our Creator's Love and Peace will we be Truly Free!
Without God, there is No Love; Without religion, there are No Wars!

Salvation isn't free....Jesus paid for it with His life. In order for a person to benefit from it, they have to repent of their sins and receive (or ask) Jesus as Savior. He redeemed mankind (paid the price of redemption) but we have to "take Him up" on the deal.

Any gift has to be accepted. With God you have the option to accept or reject his free gift. The gift is available to everyone.
Why do people like word games so much? If they were giving away free big screens at our local electronics store and you didnt go get it was it any less free? It was free and available but you CHOSE not to accept it.

Salvation is asking someone to take responsibility for my own life and all its foibles. That is a religious concept of a minor religion. Living spiritually, taking responsibility for my own body, mind, spirit...now there is the work to arrive in a spiritually adept place.

salvation - we ask God for it - this is acknowledging Him as Creator, as our Lord and Savior
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 28

The concept of salvation in the Christian sense is absurd, and most of us do not want it or need it.
