My dog went to the toilet in someones yard and then went down further to finish it off. He is an old sick boy and the guy was screaming at him to shoo him away. He wouldn't let me explian he's sick and I couldn't disturb him, cause he hardly goes as it is.

Then when I went to pick it up he was still yelling at me. I apologised to the guy, but he went raving on about my dog always crapping in his yard.

It was the first time I or the dog have been anywhere near his place.

To be honest, there IS ignorance on both sides of that fence.
People are people, and some of them own dogs.
He may (as mentioned) have a continuing problem with some dog owning irresponsible slob. Perhaps they even look like you to the person mentioned.
I think you did fine. There is only so much one CAN do,,,, and there's just so much that some CAN handle.
He may have been acting out of frustration of past experiences with others. Keep in mind that some people take as much pride of their yard as you do your dog.
Not trying to justify the guy,,, just that I can understand both sides.
Try to avoid the yard if you can. Maybe try and make friends with your neighbor, and eventually bring up the issue in a non-defensive way. "Dog people" relations with the public are getting to be big issues lately. Any and all "positives" for dog owners are pluses for all.

This is probably a common problem for the individual whose yard is being defecated in. He may think the only reason you picked it up, was that he caught your dog in the act.
Dogs will "go" where other dogs have gone before. They can tell by the smell; this is why when housebreaking a dog you will see people advocate always using the same designated potty area.
Obviously other dog owners are not / were not as concientious as you were, the guy is sick of mowing and / or stepping in crap on his yard, needed to vent, and you were handy.
Since this was the first time you were anywhere near his place, it sounds like you can avoid his place (and potential conflicts) in the future.

There are stupid people, who just want to fight. Once I was passing by a neighbourhood where I had never been before, and I saw a hungry kitty and baught some cat food and put it in a bowl that was there, outside a house, for stray cats, obviously. Then a guy came screaming to me that I was feeding the neighbourhood's cats and that was causing dirt in the specific point. When I explained that I was not even from there and I used the bowl that the house owners had there, so obviously they didn't mind the cats, he said that he minded, because that's where he parked his motorcycle! Of course, that was on a pavement, where he is not allowed to park his motorcycle! I threatened to call the police and took his plate number and I also promised to go there every day and feed the cats, even if it was not on my way, and call the police on him if I ever saw his motorcycle parked there, and he shut up.

Some people are just unhappy and need to spread that unhappiness around.

Don't even give him the satisfaction of an explanation. Just be sure to walk your dog far away from him so he'll have nothing to complain about.

Consider this from his point of view: Does he know your dog is sick? Probably not.

There are strict rules concerning this type of thing. In most places you can get fined for allowing your dog to roam without a leash, so really don't rant on about him being angry over you allowing your dog to 'do his thing' on his lawn.

I actually stopped walking my dogs in our neighborhood because of some crazy old lady.
My one doberman would not go when on the leash. She would scream at me that my dog pooped in her yard. I had a bag with me and would have picked it up. She would scream at me every day. I finally gave up and stopped walking him that direction.
Some people are just plain nuts.

I would have thrown it at him if he was still yelling when I picked it up. Of course with a nasty comment
