There are a lot of misconceptions about beef and chicken as it pertains to dieting. In most diet plans they will refer to chicken as "skinless" and most often will only choose the chicken breast as the comparison.

The chicken thigh or leg will often contain as much or more saturated fat than most beef cuts. Leave the skin on the breast and the fat content rises dramatically.

A comparison of beef vs chicken are at these websites:

Peel off the chicken skin where most of the fat is - that's easier than trying to get the fat out of beef. Better still stop eating animals altogether and substitute with cottage cheese, beans and a few nuts.
