The quantity of available sun power is: 89,000 TW

The power we consume (worldwide) is around: 15TW

So we use an equivalent of around 0.017% of the available sun power. And there is furthermore geothernal power available (which is not from the Sun) and tidal power (also not from the sun)

Furthermore, it is probable that we will be able to cut by half our energy consumption without having to change our lifestyle. With minor changes, we could cut it by 3x.

Almost all of our energy comes from the Sun, even the chemical potential energy available in fossil fuels.

It will have to, because fossil fuel will run out some day. But when we do have enough of those energy sources to provide most of our energy, they will be called conventional, not alternative. It is like the joke about how they have great Chinese food in China, but of course they don't call it Chinese food over there. They just call it food.

Maybe. Someday. One of the problems is when power companies map out where they must have a generator to carry the current a certain distance and they get to that spot where they must have one they find no running water for hydroelectricity generators and notice absolutely no wind for wind-powered electricity. So they burn coal or set up a nuclear power plant.
