It is proved by the fact of the red shift in stars and galaxies.

Do not try to make Christians look at facts that are opposed to their biblical teachings. They lose all reason, when that happens.

Red shift is phenomena. The big bang is a theory, not a proven fact. To prove it we have to experiment over and over. That a little difficult when you are talking about the formation of the universe.

Your not suggesting that the Big Bang theory as it stands now, is the only possible explanation for red shift in stars and galaxies are you? At best its our best guess, given the information at hand.

How can it be proven. 500 Years ago it was a proven fact that the earth was flat. The same time it was a proven fact that the earth was the center of space and everything went around it. Years ago Pluto was a proven planet and now its not. The point is we come up with more advanced tools to figure out more advanced things in 10 years you don't know what they are going to say about the universe.

Quite right. The expansion of the universe leads directly to a beginning, in which everything was at a single point of apparently infinite density - which would be a singularity.

The 'echo' of that explosion is still observable today, in the form of the 2.7K background radiation coming from all points of the sky. This is the signature of the heat of the fireball, cooled down hugely over billions of years.

Regardless of whether it happened because of supernatural invention - highly unlikely - or because of some innate property of space/time/matter, it certainly happened.

[Thomas the doubter: have you not heard of gravity?]

First things first my friend. You need to explain how an explosion causes order. I have seen a few explosions in my life, and heard about some others; and it seems that the bigger they get they more disorder they cause. Another funny thing about explosions: The pieces of the exploding object tend to not start coming together as they are flying away from each other. The Big Bang cannot explain how all the planets, stars, and moons came together. That would not make sense after an explosion.

Edit: CD, yes I have heard of gravity. Have you never seen an explosion? They don't cause order.

How is the expansion of the space related to the begging of the universe? I don't see a causal relation.

Unless you find the edge you can't prove a finite universe. If you can't prove a finite universe, and or the universe is infinite the big bang theory used to explain the beginning of it, is as absurd as it can get.

How do you explain the proven fact that this has been in the Bible for thousands of years?

Psalm 104:2
Who coverest thyself with light as with a garment:
who stretchest out the heavens like a curtain:

(expanding) = (stretchest)(like a curtain)

Read Psalm 104 if you like science.

Isaiah 44
24Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

25That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;

I do not claim to understand the amazing things about our world and space. . .it really is amazing.

I have, however, experienced the realness of Jesus, so how do you explain that to me if He does not exist? You can't.. . .just as I can not explain the world to you. To each his own . . . .
