Well.. let's take a look at what your message tells us. First let me say that I don't think the 18 age gap is the problem here. You have to understand that when a business is looking to hire someone they are looking for the best 'skill set' they can get for the salary they can pay that position. The business is also looking for stability and a long term commitment to working for them as they don't want to spend time and effort training an employee only for them to leave shortly there after.
So... taking all this into account let's examine your situation. First you say your under 18 but this isn't really an issue provided you are not looking for a position that requires that age such as waitress where alchohol is served, so first make sure the job you are applying for does not have an age restriction. Now, let's examine your skill set, what marketable skills do you have such as computer knowledge, education, etc. Well, you tell us in your question that you've quit school... uh oh.. here's your first big problem. You've quit school and therefore any job you apply for you will ALWAYS be in line behind someone who's finished high school. No business wants to invest the time and money in someone that doesn't understand the basic needs of an education. Plus the very fact that you quit school indicates an unreliablity on your part. Add to that the fact that it is highly probably that your quitting school was due to other personal issues such as drug or alchohol abuse, authority issues, disiplinary problems, etc. What business is going to what to invest in someone who has already demonstrated that they are uninterested in bettering themselves and/or advancing their education?
Now... let's look at your final statement that you are needing this job to buy your BF a present. Wow... what a great long term goal! You need to understand that you need stronger more definite life goals than just a short term 'BF Gift' as a goal. Now if you told ANY potential employer during an interview (if they even grant you one) that this is the reason you are needing the job you can bet you won't get hired. Because the employer will figure that as soon as you get enough money to buy the gift you'll be gone.
Now.. your final statement... 'I have no luck for anything anymore.' Luck isn't what is needed here. What is needed is for you to realize that your life if screwed up, you have no education, I suspect there are drug or alchohol issues, etc. Once you've come to that realization you need to get some help. There are lots of places out there that are willing to help and I'd start with the school you quit so you can finish your education. I'd also look to counsling either at your school, the State/county health services, your parent(s), local churches/synagogs/mosque (depending upon religious beliefs), etc.
Your 'LUCK' will never improve until you take control of your life and realize that you must accept a higher level of responsibility.
I truly wish you the best and hope this answers the question!

It's not the end of the world. If your bf will understand then great. 3 months is not that far away. If you have a work permit you can get a job. Some inexpensive ideas for birthday: picnic, go to the museum, make dinner for him, make your own birthday card for him, etc. Just get creative.
Go back to school. Graduate HS. Go to College. Get a job when you're 18. Enjoy the present and don't stress about the future.

The whole world recognizes the age 18 as the age when you're not a child anymore, where you can take care of yourself and provide everything that your parents used to provide for you. I don't think you should kill yourself to get a gift for your bf, though. He'll understand if he loves you. I prefer to be surprised 6 months after my birthday with a birthday present. Its so much more romantic.

Many companies choose not to hire anyone under 18 simply because they are as you stated, inexperienced, however if you do have experience in the field, they may still choose not to hire you purely on the fact you are under 18. As a whole teenagers have given ourselves a bad image and some companies don't think it is worth the risk to have a teenage employee. But on a side note, most things you need to be 19-21 for actually. :)

You have to be 18 for a lot of things because that's the age, in many states, you're considered to be an adult. That's the age where you can legally enter into a binding contract, held accountable as an adult for certain crimes, etc.
For this reason, a lot of places will not hire you (especially places that sell/serve alcohol -- because you have to be 18 to serve or sell alcohol) and somtimes places where you would have to work with cash or credit transactions because in some states, your employer will not be able to bond you (insure you as an employee in case you steal something -- this isn't true in all states/with all jobs).

First of all, if you want to get a decent job anywhere you need to get your a** back to school. Your boyfriend knows you don't have any money at 17 and a highschool dropout. You could get some $1 candles and bubblebath and card and set it up for him if you're that stressed about it!! I would be worrying about the rest of my life and getting back in school rather than a boyfriend at your age!!

Depending on your age you may be able to get a work permit from your state Department of Labor. The guidance counselor at school may be able to help too some people hire students for work study jobs.
