A lady just asked for Christians to pray for her and her husband that are going through hard times & might be getting a divorce. She has the right to ask others to pray for her and her marriage. This is her right and is part of her faith.

It absolutely sickened me to see all the atheists' remarks to her about this. Don't you have simply respect for another human being that is going thru a tough time?!?! You aren't Christian, so you don't have to pray, she wasn't directing her prayer request to you. So just stay out of it. Put yourself in her shoes. How would you feel if you felt strong about something, in something and a non-believer made very rude ignorant comments to you in your time of need and help. How would that make you feel?!? Really people! She directed her question, prayer, to fellow Christians. We Christians would certainly add her in our daily prayers.

Why did u atheists have to be so damn rude?!? If you don't pray, fine but u don't have to be that rude to a believer

Friend, I did not see the prayer request, I just got back online after going to the store. I will pray for anyone that God will have HIS perfect will, But listern Friend, don't take this as me being hateful, But you just fell for the atheists trick, when you are on here using cuss word. That is exactly why you have atheists on here to upset people. Just remember you are the only bible some people will ever read, & if they don't see anything in you that is different, then why should they change.

As far as I'm concerned, people can use all the prayer they can get, even if the people doing the praying are of a different faith. I'm of the opinion that situations can be greatly improved with positive thoughts. I believe there are some athiests and agnostics out there who believe the same. These would not be the same people who complain about prayer requests on R&S.

My advise to those who receive negative comments about their prayer requests is to simply ignore them. To make comments in return is to give up your own power. They have none if you don't respond.

You are absolutely correct, whether one believes in the strenght of prayer or thinks it is a superstitious habit, is utterly
irrelevant. It is perfectly legitimate to ask someone of your own faith to pray for you here on the pages of Religion and
Spirituality.
It is not an Arena where Atheists and Christians fight each other as bitter enemies.
I'm a convinced Atheist myself but I don't approve of these cheap shots, it does not reflect well on us as a group.
I may not belief in the 10 commandments per se, but I do have my own morals and values I adhere to.
Thou shalt not kick a person when he's down is pretty high on
that list.
I am extremely saddened by the hurt caused and the blind indifference shown, but unfortunately I can't apologize for
the actions of a few rotten apples.
And I doubt they have the courage to do so themselves.

Because people of all walks of life are rude, mean, apathetic, and downright malicious. And for some reason atheist on the Religion and Spirituality board seem to be so angry at Christians for their belief in God and the talking to others about it. I find that people always cry offense when I talk about my religion publicly, and thus prayers are taken out of the work place and schools, but what if I cried offense because of their lack of religion. Do you think it would work the same way? Doubt it. But no matter, as a Christian, I will love them anyway and pay no attention to their chiding. For they chided Jesus, did they not. But he died for them anyway. The best you can do is ignore them and pray for them.

There are times when it's definitely inappropriate to push the atheist barrow. Most do actually respect this, but unfortunately, some people from both sides of the divide forget that everyone posting here is a human being with feelings.

I also find it rude when someone discribes a problem or says they're losing their faith, and suddenly some christians are telling them that they MUST do as they are telling them rather than to follow their hearts.

Wow, I'm atheist and my friend asked me to go to a youth group with her at church on Wednesday too.. I ended up going but it wasn't very fun for me. Just to be nice I pretended like I cared since I have respect for other people but it really didn't bother me or change me. I didn't think she was pressuring me to believe in God but I admit no matter how hard she tries I won't become a christian. I think it would be annoying if you kept asking her to go because I had another friend like that so I just stopped being friends with her.

Some atheists don't have to be polite. They ignore any accountability, and are the masters of their own lives. There is no God to them, so they can do anything they want. See the result? All someone asked for was some understanding and a little help. They jumped on her. And they have the nerve to criticize Christians. By the way, they can't put themselves in that woman's shoes. She has too much faith. Her shoes are too big to fill.

Hi Orchid,

I feel you. Just ignore hateful remarks. The people who pray will pray and those who don't, won't. It's sad that people can be such jerks when someone is reaching out for help.

Many of the answerers are what is called trolls.

Trolls can be rude at one time and quite funny at another.

It is best to ignore trolls.

They just want attention or to take attention away from what is under discussion.
